Another brilliant evening at the Eastbourne Healthcare Network at St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
A huge thank you to Bryce Murphy, Andrew Albon and Dave Longman for organising these fantastic networking events.

all monies raised through attendance go directly to supporting the incredible work of St Wilfrid’s Hospice.

We heard from three insightful speakers:

🏡 Richard Hollands, Business Development Manager at Trinity Home Care, shared how Trinity provides 24-hour care and same-day support for those wishing to remain in their own homes. I was particularly interested in the use of technology to provide transparency for clients and next of kin, with access to care plans and updates when needed.

💜 Sue Brown of The Crossroads Coaching spoke about coaching and living with illness, particularly supporting those affected by cancer and chronic health conditions. It was a thought-provoking presentation highlighting the positive impact coaching can have on helping people navigate life’s challenges and changes.

💪 Helen Charnock and Alex Rico from ACE Corporate Fitness shared their work supporting care homes and promoting strength, fitness and wellbeing within the older generation, demonstrating how physical activity can play a vital role in maintaining independence and quality of life.

It was also lovely to catch up with Dee Flower, Mina, Chris, Neil, Jane, Andrew, Dave Longman, Mia Shepperd , Alex, Helen, Kate, Donna and Ferle Beckley, as well as seeing the team from The Old Bank.

And today I’m on annual leave as I will be attending the Eastbourne Healthcare Network fundraiser at saffrons for St Wilfrids Hospice. I’ve never played bowls in my life, but there’s a first time for everything! 🎳😄

🎉 Carnival creativity in full swing at The Beacon today! 🎉

I stopped by the Eastbourne Carnival CIC workshop at Gather in The Beacon this afternoon — and the atmosphere was full of colour, laughter, and brilliant community spirit.

Loved trying on the most incredible headdresses (thank you Ray from @sunshineistudios) and watching everyone get stuck into the creative fun with local artist @ldean1961 - Lucy Dean

It was also lovely to see Mina O’Brien, Carnival Director and owner of Ditzy Media, along with her son Leon and Laura Parish from the Ditzy team. Always such a joy bumping into them.

Great to see ⚡️Emma Pearce from Lightning Fibre too — always out supporting the community and the carnival workshops.

A special mention to Dr Rexleigh Bunyard (D.Mus), who was making the most beautiful hair clip — and very kindly let me model it. Such talent in our town.

Wonderful to catch up with Eastbourne Mayor, Cllr Margaret Bannister as well — the excitement for this year’s Lights, Camera, Action theme is definitely building.

Huge thanks to Lightning Fibre, who are proudly sponsoring this year’s creative workshops. And as part of the Howden Insurance Eastbourne team, I’m proud that we insure the workshops and help make these community events possible.

Workshops are free and open to all until 4pm today, so if you’re nearby, pop in, get creative, and join the carnival fun.

🎭 Eastbourne Carnival 2024 — the countdown is on

I can’t wait to be a part of the carnival this year! Don’t miss out! 23rd May 🎡💃🏻🎭

A fantastic evening at the Children With Cancer Fund fundraising dinner 🎗️.

Exceptional three‑course meal at LA LOCANDA DEL DUCA LIMITED 🍽️, brilliant service, and a night full of fun — from the raffle 🎟️ and auction 🏆 to a very competitive game of heads & tails. Amazing to see so many Eastbourne businesses showing their support for such an important cause.

Huge credit to Peter Sanders and the Ginger & Sanders Sales and Lettings team, Chris Downton 🙂 & the Children with cancer fund team for organising such a polished and impactful event 👏

Well done to the sponsors — Ginger & Sanders, Uptons, and Mango Insurance Insurance — for helping make it all possible 🙌

And the headline… £12,000 raised for Children with Cancer Fund. Absolutely incredible 💛

I attended on behalf of Howden Insurance, and we had a brilliant table of local businesses & was lovely to see so many local businesses as well

🌟 PART TWO — Healthcare Connections & Radio Conversations! 🌟

The second half of my week was all about community, collaboration, and some truly inspiring conversations here in Eastbourne.

I headed to the Eastbourne Healthcare Network event at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, and it was such a brilliant evening. Huge credit to Andrew Albon and Bryce Murphy for building this network into something so valuable for local healthcare professionals — the room was full, the energy was great, and the focus on prevention really hit home.

We heard from three fantastic speakers:

• Andrew Albon – Sussex Footcare
A fascinating look at how podiatry links to wider health, including a demo of their digital footscan system and how it highlights movement patterns we don’t always notice.

• East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service
Benjamin Hall and the team shared the huge amount of preventative work they do across the county — especially supporting vulnerable residents with safety advice and early intervention.

• Poojita Patel – Walfinch Homecare
Poojita spoke about spotting early behavioural changes in our elderly loved ones, and how her team’s daily visits help prevent hospital admissions and keep people safe at home.

A brilliant evening celebrating the people who keep our community well. 💛

Then it was straight over to Ashdown Radio 🎙️
I joined Chelsea on her show after being invited by the wonderful Ryan Millns, chatting all about our Howden Insurance Eastbourne x St Wilfrid’s Hospice Fundraiser at The Fishermen’s Club on Royal Parade.

📅 LAST week to book for 27th March
👉 https://lnkd.in/efntM8T2

✨ On the night:
• Welcome drinks 6.30pm
• Race Night
• Casino Games
• Buffet & Sweet Table
• DJ & Dancing
• Auction & Raffle
• Hosted by Ashdown Radio’s Ryan Millns

It’s going to be such a fun evening — all for an incredible cause. Eastbourne, you never fail to amaze me. 💛
