Today feels special ✨

I can finally share the first mockup of Skin Fields.

After 7 years of carrying this project across borders, languages, and meetings, seeing it take shape as a book feels surreal. A dream come true. What once lived only in my head and heart, and traveled through negatives, hard drives, and lenses, is now becoming something you can actually hold in your hands.

Some of you may have already seen parts of Skin Fields in exhibitions around Spain, but this moment is different, it’s the first time I can say the project is truly finished.

When you pre-order, you’ll receive a limited-edition poster now, and this fall your copy of Skin Fields will arrive, published by @hopperandfuchs designed by @divadnoob and with a text from @polgua.

This is my first photobook and your support in the pre-sale is what makes it possible.

Thank you 🥹💛

Hello! I can finally announce this! I’m beyond excited! 🥹 After years of work, Skin Fields will see the light this autumn, thanks to the incredible @hopperandfuchs and with the support of Kursaala. 💫

I’ve spent 7 years exploring intimate spaces immersed in hostile territories. Journeys to Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and Morocco, across geographic, political, and religious landscapes where sexual freedom is pushed into the private sphere. What is our place in the world when being gay is illegal?

This weekend we’re launching the pre-sale with something truly special: a limited edition poster-publication — 100 hand-numbered and signed copies — offering a glimpse into the heart of the book and the creative process behind it, beautifully designed by @david_boon_ @divadnoob

This poster isn’t just a teaser — it’s a direct pass to the full book when it’s published in the fall.

It will be available starting today at the Hopper & Fuchs stand at @artphotobcnfest, and from Monday on my website.

More info via DM.

Thank you all, feeling truly lucky. 😌💗

NEW BOOK ~ AGAINST THE TIDE ~ Wouter Vanhees

Mumbai is a city of contradictions and ironies. It’s strange to think that one could feel alienated and alone in such an overpopulated place. Where people think the city of dreams must come with plentitude, there feels a dearth of actual opportunity. There’s the contrast with the rich elite and the destitute labor classes, the dichotomy of time with the Mumbai we know, and the Bombay we once knew. Mumbai feels like it belongs to everyone, and yet at the same time it belongs to no one. None of us really knew what life in Mumbai had in store for us. No member of Pacifist was born or raised here, to lay our claim to this city. But that doesn’t change the fact that we belong. Mumbai is our home, and with all the love/hate hyperbole that comes with living in this city, we’d have it no other way. We tried to capture that unsettling feeling of dissonance and an ode to that stark contrast, through our music and visuals. Our narrative is far removed from geographical pride and instead more rooted in socio-political consciousness, and Mumbai has plenty of character to show in that regard.

Welcome to the jungle.

‘the bear and butterfly’ by Ruth van Haren Noman contains a selection of watercolours that were created across the seasons of one year. Starting in winter; slumbering, slow and hidden like a bear in hibernation, then spring; rooting and developing, unfolding itself like a butterfly. Summer arrives; flourishing and ripening towards the harvest in autumn, where things get processed and perhaps shaped into a book which can nurture us during yet another winter.

Launch and exhibition in January 2025 in Antwerp at @wilderantwerp - more info to follow next year.
