I’d normally put an edm track to this kind of video but I’d thought I’d try something different fluffy plinkyplonky music instead. What do you think?

This video shows a ctenophore discharging some bioluminescence as a result of me getting a bit to close.

No Comb jellies were harmed in the making of this video but I did destroy some tacos after the dive

We don’t know why the pelagic Alciopidae worm does this. If anyone has a theory id love to read it.

These worms are sometimes called camera eyed worms as their eyes seem to be very well developed, they have a high resolution of vision. I guess in open ocean there is an advance to being able to see stuff as well as sense movement.

Filming flying fish swimming directly into the lens is a pretty tricky job. You have to swim backwards just at the right speed to allow the lens to keep up with the movement and move in such a way you don’t will the water too much. The bbc reached out to me a few years ago and asked if I could film flying fish and put a sequence together showing them breeding. Seeing what you have to do to get even just this short moment of video their expectations were truly astronomical. I really have no idea how they even thought such a section was possible . I guess having ideas in an office in Bristol is a bit different from actually doing something . I suppose one can always dream.

This video was using @mareluxco mv60 wet lens and Nikons z105. The camera was set of bird tracking autofocus. It seemed to do a really good job.
