I have been wanting to reintroduce myself for some time, so here goes…

I’m Chenaara, the Creative Director of Dream Draw Sew. Welcome to my digital studio space!

My work is based on slow sewing skills, repurposed textiles and the need to explore what is possible through the medium of fabric. On this page you’ll see lots of my work in technical dressmaking and textile art.

I have a lot to share so stay with me while I fill your feed with bold everlasting floral arrangements and bespoke garments built on deep technical skill and repurposed textiles.

Whether you’ve seen my flowers in person, want to see how a garment comes to life or are curious about what you can do with a needle and thread, it is great to have you here!

Let me know in the comments if you’re a maker / creator too ❤️

‘thankful for a body still brimming, for a body still grinning’
TORSO (Work In Progress 1)

by me, @marthab_a @adelaide__mars and collaboration from @lula_bluee and @tombobraithwaite

Thank you as always to @fran.ziskaner.weissbier for the most beautiful production shots.

This tender piece was a gentle unravelling of how dancing freely and unfolding yourself outward are acts of love, rituals of acceptance, how shifting and shedding is inevitable, and sharing ourselves in every way is a must.

‘over and over and over again, i will dance with you, over and over again’

Thank you to everyone who came and even provided feedback, you saw the first iteration of this piece and i am so grateful. We will continue to work on TORSO and will be sharing the next version later in the year, so if you liked it share your thoughts with us! and share them with others who may be interested in the next step!

Once again, thank you @dividedcultureco and most of all thank you to @congoodwin for your support, care and all round inspiring graft, very grateful for this opportunity.

I’ll be sharing the first work in progress version of my new show TORSO in two days time, Saturday 27th at 12pm, @seesawspace .

🫸Here’s a collage of images taken through different stages of the making of this piece.

🤝True collaboration is based off a variety of things, the main one being trust. Trust in the hands of grafters and crafters that they will hold you and your words safely and bring fresh fruit in the form of creativity and conversation; after all a fruit salad is not a fruit salad with only one type of fruit in the mix.

🫲I am so thankful for my collaborators on this project, you have helped build from little fragments a beautiful piece that takes an actual shape, and i couldn’t have done it without any of you! @adelaide__mars @marthab_a @lula_bluee @tombobraithwaite . Thanks for your insight, your elements, your time, your energy, your gentleness and your trust in me.

🫳We will be setting up a feedback station at the back of the venue for audience members to leave any thoughts, feelings, critiques or even ideas, as we will be continuing to work on this piece when it returns later this year!

Thank you again to @dividedcultureco @congoodwin for this wonderful opportunity, for the piece would not exist without your first push!
