The Fall/Winter 2024 Girlz Empowered youth completed the season with such growth and courage. Walked in as strangers now a group of friends and we foresee life long friendships among these girls. Our girls show up because they want to and they know we care.
They have a safe space to learn and grow.
#afterschoolmatters

To our girls who consistently showed up, engaged in new activities, fought through fears, gained confidence, resilience, supported their peers, made new friends, learned a lot and grew even further. You are the future🙏🏾❤️ #girlzempowered

Couldn’t be more proud and grateful to have worked with some wonderful young ladies yesterday at @girlswhobrunchtour Detroit. Facilitated a @girlz.empowered self love and hygiene workshop for the teens. They were engaged to learn and had many questions about menstrual hygiene and health. We hope to facilitate more discussions and workshops with the youth ❤️

We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and thank @drnicolam for having us serve the youth at this event!

We have been spreading awareness and having discussions to advocate and end period poverty. We talk about womb healing, hygiene, pain relief and more. Supplies and hygiene kits went to women and girls this week. If you see me out this week grab a kit I have a lot more to give out until they are gone. We will continue to collect supplies, make kits to make sure no one goes without needed supplies during there menstrual cycle. #endperiodpoverty

May 23rd- May 29th Michigan Period Poverty Week:
WHEREAS, national studies report that two in five women and girls have struggled to purchase menstrual supplies due to lack of income, and more than one in three women and girls miss work or school as a result; and,

WHEREAS, period poverty exacerbates the vicious cycle of poverty by forcing women to withdraw from daily life, losing pay or missing educational opportunities; and,

WHEREAS, women struggling with period poverty, risk infections by substituting products – such as socks or toilet paper – or not changing products as often as needed; and,

WHEREAS, period poverty is a public health and health equity issue, and addressing access to period products for all people can lead to improved health for women and economic opportunity for individuals and communities to thrive and reach their full potential; (read the full proclamation here

Our Hope and Healing event on a beautiful ☀️ day at the park. Families join us for a soul healing session with releasing yoga practice, sound bowl and art while in nature surrounded by some big beautiful trees and lots of birds. We enjoyed some laughs, chats, food and drinks to provide our bodies the nourishment it needed💚

Thank you so much @withlove.salome @artbyasiana @rissakat for contributing to this wonderful day for the kids in the community. Their laughs, hugs, thank yous, smiles and good vibes provide us all with the most rewarding gift anyone could give.

Big thanks to @communityconnectionsdetroit their sponsorship towards our event❤️
