Okay fair enough. The little dude is basically a moving grain of rice.

One of my favourite things about diving in Thailand is slowing down enough to notice the tiny stuff.

Nudibranchs like this are easy to miss completely, but once your eyes adjust to macro life, the reef suddenly turns into a full scavenger hunt.

And honestly? I luv it. I luv it. I luv it.

These #freckledhawkfish always look so nervous! It’s hard to get a shot before they flit away to a new perch. Luckily this one has a sweet little spot to hide in a barrel sponge and I managed to get a couple of shots of it peeking out at me. It’s funny how fish do seem to have distinctly different characters, don’t you agree? #sprinklesaltonyoursoul

Esiste un mondo sott’acqua.
Un mondo ancora non del tutto esplorato, anzi, esplorato solamente in minima parte.
Un mondo emozionante, fatto di pesci, di piante, di pietre, di sabbia e di acqua, ovviamente. Ma anche fatto di luce, di riflessi, di colori, di linee, di sensazioni, di silenzio. Un silenzio che in effetti diventa assordante. Perché il mare parla, eccome se parla!

There are hundreds of species of crabs and shrimp here in the Wakatobi National Park. Here are a few pics of some of my favourites. I particularly love this little hermit crab with his cute little eyes on stalks peeking out of his shell. The most difficult to photograph for me is the popcorn shrimp. Named obviously because of his white head. They hide deep under the polyp tentacles of the mushroom corals they live in, so it requires a lot of patience to capture. Their head also always ends up looking like a white blob. I think the solution must be to under expose it with just a little strobe light to avoid all those crazy highlights. I’m still not completely happy with my photos of this subject, but they do say to practice the things you find the hardest in order to improve. I’ll keep trying anyway. Persistence will eventually pay off! #sprinklesaltonyoursoul
