End of summer recap

What an amazing opportunity to see how God is not just God of our circumstances, but a God who loves us and knows us wherever we are. These kids had so much joy and love, they were true representation of what the light of Jesus looks like. The community here is unlike any other. Many of these kids didn’t have close to anything but they had everything through their Heavenly Father. This trip was life bringing, Thank you Jesus for all the new and exciting experiences! May He be one greater and I become less - John 3:30🤍

"When will you be back?"

I was asked this exact question countless times throughout my time in Nairobi, Kenya by children and students in the slums, Baba Dogo, KB, and Joska. Out of all the millions of questions I was asked, this one was by far the hardest to answer.

And the truth was, I didn't have one. I wanted to be able to tell them that I would be back the next week, or next month, or next year. But I could only have faith that the Lord would bring me back in His timing. The ten days I spent in Kenya felt like 10 minutes, and I will forever remember every moment of it. There were still so many conversations left unfinished, little hands I didn't want to let go of, and a community I wasn't ready to say goodbye to.

As heartbreaking as it was to leave and as much as the kids didn't want us to, I was reminded of something so so so much bigger than myself. We were never meant to be the source of their joy, because Jesus already is the hope and light in their lives. He was with them before we arrived, He walked with them while we were there, and He will remain faithful even though our plane has taken off. Their community is so special because the joy of the Lord truly is their strength, and it shows.

There are no words to accurately explain the impact that this trip has had on my life. Every single conversation I had with the people I met in Nairobi was so intentional and each one shifted my perspective in a different way. Nothing I say could ever capture the pure joy, love, and faith of the people who made a place 9,450 miles away feel like home. I came to Kenya expecting to serve, but I left having received far more than I could have ever given.

Thank you @mohiafrica and @ccv_students for such an amazing opportunity. This trip meant everything to me.

Until next time, Kenya! Bwana Asifiwe!

What a blessing the past few days have been. Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to mentor and walk alongside each and every one of these girls and for a church that invests in the next generation time after time after time. It has been such a gift to watch them grow, build friendships, and learn more about who You are. I’m so beyond grateful to have been a small part of what God is doing in their lives. God you are so good!!!
