It was Mile High Dining’s first visit to an Israeli restaurant, Dizengoff, which is in Philadelphia. The three of us wanted to try something different. Dizengoff is a Bib Gourmand award winner from the Michelin guide. The award is for good quality and good value. The restaurant is known for its creamy hummus with pita bread.

The three of us shared the hummus, Caesar salad, and the chicken schnitzel platter. I even had a small glass of white wine from Israel and it was just so-so. The hummus Tehina is traditional style with an added herb base sauce. Hummus and the pita bread were very good.

The Caesar salad is topped with lots of shredded cheese over the kale. They even added broccoli which was out of place. The chicken schnitzel platter with rice pilaf and a chopped tomato salad was very good. The crispy chicken was the best food of the afternoon.

My ratings are: It’s OK, Good, Very Good, and Excellent.

The verdict ⚖️ for Dizengoff is Good.

Came for the brown butter hummus, ended up with the entire menu @dizengoff_philly

@mikesolomonov does it again. Dizengoff is a place I would go for lunch twice a week if I lived in Philly. Not just for the brown butter and Urfa hummus. The sabich pita sandwich and passionfruit-amba glazed short rib are standouts here too.

I really miss Philly. Now I see why LeBron chose the sixers!

Hummus date ✨

@dizengoff_philly has our favorite hummus in Philly, and this seasonal corn hummus was incredible 🌽🤤

Pairs perfectly with a frozen lemonana for an end of summer lunch date!

A few weeks ago, I made a reservation at @dizengoff_philly for Rosh Hashanah dinner and invited a friend and her husband to join us. They had a scheduling conflict, so they declined. Fast forward to last night. One look at the menu, and I realized how lucky it was that they didn’t join us: somehow, I forgot that honey is one of the cornerstones of Rosh Hashanah. My friend has one food allergy. Can you guess what it is 🤦‍♀️ ?

L’Shana Tovah to my fellow celebrants.
May your year be filled with good health, happiness and 385 days of common sense! (5787 is extra long, so you have time to perfect your skill lol.)

Dizengoff is a modern Israeli restaurant in Rittenhouse, by chef @mikesolomonov (Same group as Zahav, Laser Wolf, Goldie…)

My favorites were the Turkish hummus and the cauliflower. We also got babaganoush and the za’atar chicken, served with rice and a chopped salad.

It is very well priced and a great sharing vibe. More of a casual spot but super yum and fun!
