★ Blues, Funk, Afro-Soul, Jazz, Hip Hop🌀
🌍 AFRO-LATIN FIESTA presents: @kihaya_band_ ✵

🏄‍♂️ Ready to ride the rhythm?
On July 18th, feel the pulse of Tanzania, in the heart of London, with the soul of the diaspora — all in one explosive set. Kihaya, the electrifying 5-piece fronted by the magnetic Kyazi Lugangira, is bringing the kind of energy that moves bodies and minds.

🎸 From the streets of Dar es Salaam to stages across the globe, their sound is a fusion forged in fire — a wild blend of Afro-jazz, soul, funk, Latin swing and hip-hop bounce. Their lyrics speak of love, struggle, joy, and unity — and their grooves? Pure vibes 🌊

➽ This is a set to sweat for.
Kyazi’s voice is silky over a beat, his guitar a storyteller in its own right & together with the Kihaya family, they’ll make your spirit shake and your body follow.

✵ Supporting headliner Aleh Ferreira for his Folktales debut, with a magical opening set by our sister @Em Prada (@not_prada ) & her soulful trio. It’s not just a gig — it’s a celebration of culture, rhythm, and connection⭕️

🎟️ Tickets flying — don’t wait. Hit the link in bio and come ready to move your bones and feed your soul.

Rio’s rhythm is calling. Answer with your feet. 👣💃🏾

Since coming back from New Orleans I’ve spent spring playing and teaching, and catching up with some family and friends. I’ve performed in North Wales and quite a few English counties. I went to the North York moors for the first time and they’re so beautiful!!

If you’re in London this week, it would be so lovely to see you on Tuesday for my first full band gig since being back in the UK! The early bird tickets sold out in a matter of hours but there are still some normal tickets left!! There are also ‘pay what you can’ tickets (as always) for anyone who’s having a hard time. We’re going to be dressing up again so make sure you look fabulous. It would be very wonderful to see you 💖 Sambambo posing with her saxophone in front of some greenery

[from september to november]

“The days are getting shorter, darker.
Cool winds have chilled me to the bone.
So many needs and expectations,
I feel stifled
Now is the season of mellow fruitfulness,
Ours is a meagre harvest.

Loves early promise lies unfulfilled
Fruits withered on the stem
Nature or nurture, it will be the death of me.
I am running out,
Running out,
Of faith

Time passes, the earth turns. Time passes, seasons change.”

Back in action!

This was a painting commission from 2 years ago for @dizestablishment_ ‘s album Rumpelstilstkin! It was the first painting at that point that I’d done larger than to fit a phone case, and a pivotal point in deciding that maybe I should go back to uni and do a very non-mathsy degree in Illustration. Since I’ve managed to pass first year uni (3rd time lucky!) I can’t say it was a terrible idea?

Give the album a listen on Spotify if you haven’t yet!
