from the IMPROMPTU archives… January 2026

(mostly) never before seen archival footage of the greatest party™️ / club night / social experiment ever brought live to you from the depths of my dropbox…

I’ve crammed some content from weeks 5 - 7 in this post because i’ll never get through this project of posting all of the photos that were taken over summer, which i am actually not sure if there is a major purpose for, but alas if you’re following along, nice, and if not, it actually doesn’t matter. Nothing does. At least one day when I am applying for a job I can say “well look at @impromptu.level2 and you will see proof of my community building and event organising skills. We didn’t even have artwork or marketing budget! Haha those were the days” - or something like that.

– blog excerpt below, rest is on my substack, it’s actually a juicy read you should check it out in the #link in my bio

“The past few weeks have seen the club take on a mind of its own. We’ve had international guests like Oisin my club music promo guy slash DJ who was over all the way from Ireland, Reenie from the UK who I could not help myself shouting about all night long - “REENIE JUST HAS STAR QUALITY” - still stands true. And then of course there was Pretty Girl, Tyde Levi, Motez ft. Doolie, ABSOLUTE. and omg so many more (keep reading!!!)
One thing I love about this party is all the DJs that roll through and some don’t even wanna DJ they just wanna chill and I fuck with that… mostly. Luckily DJ Seinfeld didn’t have his USB on him (allegedly) so he was marked safe from an impromptu set.

Another highlight for me is the VIP section that was sort of made as a joke but has ended up being the most exclusive 2 metre squared spot in the whole country every Thursday night. Last week I think we broke a world record with 25 people in there. It was really special opening and closing the red velvet rope with purpose and seeing my visions come to life. It’s crazy what a couch behind a rope can do to people psychologically.”

188 Naarm takeovers Captain this Saturday 🤝
@188naarm has been at the forefront of Melbourne’s dance music scene, running events, tours and an artist agency since 2021, and more recently founding Sonder Festival.

Now, as 188 steps into year five, it’s only right to celebrate now with a Captain takeover. Leading the charge is the ruthless @dj.belle__ 👩‍✈️ When DJ Belle takes the stand, nothing short of fun follows. She has an innate ability to turn a 2000s club classic into an electrifying bassy breaky head wobbler which makes it impossible to not jump around like you’ve lost your goddamn mind.

We’re pleased to also welcome 188 Naarm selectors, MINA, Pro Bono, Lah Lah and Just Reg.
