what a fitting reunion for #internationalwomensday. over two years since I’ve seen my musical kindred spirit nikki. it occurred to me that even with the best of friends, it’s tough sharing war stories about heartbreak, healing, and growth. when someone asks how you are, often their demeanor will change or they’ll ebb away if you reply with something other than “fine” or “livin the dream.” not so with nikki. we’ve been friends long enough to pick up where we left off, laughin about old times and pondering how much the world, social activities, and dating have changed in the last 15 years … though I’ll concede red flags and romance travails make for great songs. 🎸😎😂 our freewheelin DC era of open mics, live music house parties, decadent brunches and shows were pretty damn gatsby. nikki can play just about anything but she’s also a prolific songwriter who’s performed in a number of bands. this catch up sesh since we each moved back to cali was long overdue, but we’re already lookin forward to the next jam session. thanks for beachin it, nik. see ya soon! ps: after you confessed you started dabbling in drums by playing guitar hero, I felt more comfortable sharing that I never learned to play left-handed guitar despite being a southpaw.
