POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
As the ARIA Awards celebrate their 40th year, two First Nations artists of Filipino heritage stand among the nominees, carrying the stories of their families, Country and communities onto music's biggest stage.

Mo'Ju, a proud Wiradjuri and Filipino artist raised in regional New South Wales, has spent two decades turning identity into song. Beginning with Mojo Juju & The Snake Oil Merchants in 2006, they grew into a fearless solo artist whose 2018 album Native Tongue honoured family, culture and language, earning National Indigenous Music Awards for Album and Song of the Year. In 2020 they embraced the name Mo'Ju out of spiritual respect. This year, their breathtaking Double J Live at the Wireless performance with Nicholas Buc and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall is nominated for Best World Music Album.

DOBBY, born Rhyan Clapham in Wollongong, is a Murrawarri and Filipino "drapper", son of a mother from Tacloban and a father from Brewarrina. A classically trained pianist and jazz drummer, he poured his Peter Sculthorpe Fellowship into the stories of the Brewarrina fish traps. His 2020 anthem "I Can't Breathe" with BARKAA is now taught in schools, and his debut album Warrangu: River Story won the 2024 ARIA for Best World Music Album. His second album, Marshmallow, is nominated for Best Engineered Release.

Together, they remind us that culture is not something lost, but something carried. Their journeys honour Elders, uplift young mob and show children of mixed heritage that every part of them belongs. However the night unfolds on 18 November, they have already given us something precious: music that heals, teaches and brings people home.

GRID IRON GIANT 🚃🏈🌃

@nflaunz ALWAYS felt like this unobtainable, colossal giant from overseas that would never grace our shores. When I heard the game was coming to town, I instantly thought of this kaiju, monstarr, Godzilla type kaiju player with a tram for a head/helmet. When I got Naarm a few years ago, I saw the signs.. nothing hits harder than a tram.

Stay tuned for more storytelling..

Catch this mural at #NFLHOUSE by @adobe (not a plug, just guiding where to go) — it’s hand painted on canvas, draped with the ball to match. Somewhere inside the kick off festival (rod laver)
