Not everyone who matters in your wedding gallery is standing next to you at the altar. Sometimes it is the person holding you together five minutes before you get into your dress.

This moment at Monserate Winery happened just after this bride put on her gown, her mother holding her close for one more quiet second before the day took over. Everyone is watching for the veil, the walk down the aisle, the first dance, but some of my favorite photographs come from the in between, the mother steadying her daughter with a hug she has probably given a hundred times before, just for a different reason this time.🤍

These are not the photos couples usually ask for in advance. They are the ones I notice because I am paying attention to who is standing at the edges of the day, not just the two people at the center of it. A wedding gallery feels complete when it includes the people who shaped you long before you ever met your partner.

If you are planning a wedding at Monte Bella or anywhere in Monserate Winery, or anywhere in San Diego and want a photographer who notices these moments without being asked, I would love to talk with you about your day. Reach out through my website to start the conversation.

Watching their entire relationship was like binge watching game of thrones in a weekend

Some of my favorite photographs happen in the sixty seconds nobody is watching for. This one happened at the Monte Bella space at Monserate Winery, moments after a couple walked out of their ceremony, finally alone after saying I do.

I look for light from the moment I arrive, soft and flattering, the kind that lets a background fall away so nothing distracts from what is actually happening between two people. Moments like this are never staged. They happen because I give a couple a few minutes to simply be married before the rest of the day pulls them in a hundred directions, and I stay quiet enough to let it happen naturally.

This is also why I take the time to edit every image individually rather than applying one filter across a whole gallery. A photo like this deserves the same care whether it is the first image in your gallery or the last, because twenty years from now, this is the kind of image you will still return to. Clean, romantic, and genuinely yours.

If you are dreaming of a wedding at Monserate Winery or another romantic San Diego venue and want photographs that still feel true to you decades from now, I would love to talk with you about your day. Reach out through my website to start the conversation.

Weddings at the iconic Hotel Del will forever hold such a special place in our hearts! 🤍✨

And speaking of iconic…

I truly believe this sunset was showing off just for them 💕✨

It was the perfect moment for these two to slow down, soak it all in, and share a sweet little moment together.

A routine air filter change. An unexpected introduction. The rest was history.

Sometimes the best love stories start in the most unexpected places.

A day in the life of a love story… told in black and white. I love narrowing down every wedding I shoot into just ten black and white images to watch the story change and shift. It feels like the heart of the story reveals itself when the color is removed and the images become simple. Some weddings look especially magnificent, like Justin and Michelle at the iconic seaside cliffs of The Lodge at Torrey Pines. Their images will look just as beautiful in 30 years as the day we created them together.
