The Summer I Became a Deejay :: New on Substack.
.
Last year, I finished writing a book that features a deejay. So to research this, what did I do? I became a deejay, of course. Read all about it in my latest post (link in bio).
.
Shout out to @scratchla and my awesome instructors @djgravityone and @dj4tify
.
BTW, yes, I am @djrideordi and @writerdichick (personal IG that should have been my public IG name, right?) and @riderdichick (neglected cycling/running IG + Peloton name) - I love a pun!

A major part of becoming better at your craft is being willing to learn from people who have already put in the work.

Big thank you to DJ Gravity and DJ 4tiFy for being a part of my journey and taking the time to teach me, challenge me, and show me where I can continue to improve as a DJ. 🎧🙏🏾

I came into this journey with a love for music, but you both helped me understand that DJing is so much more than just playing songs. From technique and transitions to reading the room, confidence, preparation, and developing my own style; you gave me tools that I’ll carry with me every time I step behind the decks.

I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I know there’s still another level to reach. This is only the beginning for DJ JRICO. 💯🔥

Thank you for helping me sharpen my craft and become a better DJ.

Always a student. Always improving. 🎶

A huge thank you to my Scratch Academy instructors for your patience, guidance, and for sharing your knowledge throughout this journey. You’ve helped build a strong foundation, and I’m truly grateful for everything I’ve learned. Graduation is just the beginning—the learning doesn’t stop here. I’ll continue practicing, growing, and pushing myself to become the best DJ I can be. Thank you for being part of my journey! @djgravityone @dj4tify @djrevolution @dj_retnuh
