One more post to finish one of the coolest, and best intentioned gigs I’ve ever been to. And this one starts with the growing legend that is @bunchysbigscore . Almost uncategorisable, Bunchy’s have some of the greatest energy you’re likely to ever see. Just enthusiasm, ripping tunes, searing playing and so so much fun. Maybe too much, as the whole electricity supply got cut for 10 mins or so while the amazing event staff figured out what happened. I reckon for sure it was a system unable to cope with the Bunchy’s energy. Anyway, they got to finish, the show went on, and surely this was enough to get you enrolled if you’re not already. Thankfully the gig was able to continue too because @strap.hc were about to push the gig to its limits again, @ethanoodlesoup raging side to sideacross the stage, occasionally slamming into bass/ singer @caleb.tulloch , who I’m surprised had any energy to resist by this stage of the day. What a great band, and another different music vibe displaying the range of styles Ōtepoti has to offer. And just to cement that, @rheumy_dn had one last thing for us to absorb. A near 20 minute effort of noise, riffs, drones, samples, backing beats and shopping trolley action. I love a good repetitive performance, and while the guitar sprawled all over the place, the bass was just hypnotic as all shit. So locked in. Ambient noise breakdown section gave things a surprising respite, but then right on cue, that hypnotic repetition returned. So so good. Amazing effort @dunrecords . Brilliant sound @strawberrynewzealand . Great venue @southernlightsnz . We love you @madamecholetnz . Gig#104 for 2026 (part 4)

More to come, and the awesomeness is definitely not about to stop. With @sivle.talk up next that is an understatement. Backed by members of plenty of the bands on show today, Tane Cotton smashed out a set to remember. I hear Sivle Talk doesn’t play very often, but you’d never know. Tane writes plays records and produces everything he does for this project. And with the epic band behind him fulfilling the project to its deserved levels, he completely let rip. Getting into the crowd, and leaving nothing at the end. What a brilliant performance…. On now to one of my true favourites, and my first time catching them in their hometown, @thevaginadryband. With a new bass player since I last saw them, there was completely nothing lost in this lineup change. Different but still as awesome. The angry lyrics, the guttural cries, the 7 string guitar riffery and all slammed together with that mean as bass and drums. I can’t ever imagine not loving these guys. The lyrics enough are reason to listen. Don’t fvkk with people. Be a good person. @u_no_junoband took the stage and unlike the previous night were a full vocal performance. And what a treat to catch the 2 pronged vocals. They sonic shit out and they’re tight as. And they really brought some of those banging 4eps tunes to a new level in the stage. I can’t stop fizzing about how good all these band are. And then a surprise one song set from Reef Brazendale, solo electric guitar, performing his brand new song poppy punk tune ‘suspicion’ at the request of @madamecholetnz . Sounded so good live! And in a stripped back way too! Gig#104 for 2026 (part 3)

Yes!! I get to see @achtun.g ! Been listening to them heaps but wasn’t sure when I’d get to see them. Result! I love when opportunities fall in my lap. First time at @pearldiverdunedin too, and first experience of @emilyesplinmusicyeah , so all round an awesome time to have provided itself to my world. I think my filming angle was a bit off tonight, so sorry about what looks like a lot of missing head footage. But I’m not really monitoring it so whatever comes out it is what is. But @emilyesplinmusicyeah was stunning. The songs, playing, tones, vocals, even the between songs banter or ‘somethings wrong’ moments were really lovely and engaging, Emily is making some incredible music and I’m really stoked I got to hear it first hand. With @phaedralovee on bass too. I have no doubt Emily is gonna be big. Wow. Then it was time for my second chance ( and 1st since the @dunrecords 4eps came out) to catch the live @u_no_junoband . Sadly bassist/ vocalist Ramona was recovering and unable to sing tonight, but they were absolutely in fire anyway. Stefan blasted the vocal duties with aplomb and even without the multi vocal attack, these guys showed just why they’re amazing and so highly rated. And it was great to see them with a good sized crowd. Not so many in Tamaki last time I saw them, but if they come back I’m sure that’s not gonna happen again. Such a cool band. And then as of this night wasn’t great enough, former Otepoti now Ōtautahi based @achtun.g were still to come. And they blasted a set of absolutely killer tunes, that did even more justice to themselves than the great recordings. Their togetherness and interplay as a band is so good, and the 2 guitars seamlessly weave through each other. Came home with a tshirt and a cd too so pretty stokes all up! And special mention to @dannybrady135 for a stellar sound mix. And to @pearldiverdunedin for a lovely venue. Yay. This Dunedin / Otepoti place is fun. Gig#103 for 2026

Unbelievable night, hardcore Renaissance painting, Ōtautahi massive - that pretty much sums up what went down at @ohcfest. Huge thanks to @domm.doogle and @theratttttt for making it all happen, and to all the incredibly talented Southland hardcore acts - it was an absolute privilege to share the stage with you. See you in November for the Negative Approach night! Photos by the great @paradise.wanderer.

This song was originally released on our 2nd EP in 2021 but that EP was recorded in a garage and doesn't sound great and people seem to like this song so I rerecorded it. It's the first single off our 4th album "please leave the TV on" witch will be out October 15th. Spotify and Bandcamp link in bio! Cover photo taken by @theundeadllama
