I am so excited to announce the official kickoff of Play It Forward! I’m even more thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with a group of people for who I have the utmost respect and admire their talent and love for their craft. I also get to call them FRIENDS! What is Play It Forward? In short – it’s a dynamic DJ competition that blends music, mentorship, and community. Designed as an open-format battle, it welcomes DJs of all styles to showcase their creativity, versatility, and deep crate knowledge. More than just a competition, it’s a platform for emerging talent to gain exposure, connect with industry leaders, and push the boundaries of live mixing. From B-sides and deep cuts to genre-bending sets, Play It Forward celebrates the art of DJing while growing the culture of open-format music. Hosted in partnership with Chocolate Sundays at Looking Glass Lounge, this event brings together music lovers and DJs in a space that champions artistry, community, and good vibes. Sunday, March 16 | 10pm | Looking Glass Lounge – We will be kicking off the contest by getting everyone hype. So our “pro-DJs” will be showcasing their skills and their secret playlists. Then, every third Sunday of the month each pro-DJ will hand pick a DJ to compete against each other and show us what they got. The winner, by vote, will advance to the next month and two new DJs will compete, and so on. The prize? Becoming Chocolate Sundays resident DJ!!! Speaking of Chocolate Sundays, we also get to celebrate the creators of what has become a night where the Looking Glass crew opens their doors to programs created by our local Black and Brown community. Food pop-ups, vendors, and live shows, just to name a few! Just ask @djthequestion or @rizthagreat about it when you come on Sunday to wish them a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
