A room's attention breaks every 10-15 minutes. Professional hosts plan for that exact moment.

Will Gill (@djwillgill) was named the Wall Street Journal's #1 Corporate Emcee. He's hosted 3 Super Bowls, FIFA World Cup 2026, and has over 2,500 five-star reviews.

Here's the research behind why he's so good at this: attention drops measurably after 10-15 minutes without any active intervention from the host — this happens automatically, whether or not anyone notices. A professional plans engagement moments before it happens, not after.

Technique one: call and response. A quick question, a show of hands, a short challenge. Turns a passive audience into an active one, instantly. Costs 10 seconds. Resets the whole room's energy.

Technique two: the bridge between segments. A one-sentence summary before moving forward prevents the disjointed feeling of separate segments — the room barely notices the transition happened.

Worth being honest about this: it only works if it's genuine. A forced question nobody can answer creates awkwardness, not energy. Bad audience interaction is worse than none at all. Read the room before you try to move it.

You don't need the mic to do this. Meetings, classrooms, family dinners — every room goes quiet at the same intervals.

Try this at your next meeting or talk: set a mental checkpoint at the 10-minute mark, prepare one short question in advance, and use one sentence to bridge into your next point, every time.

Hosting an event soon?

I practice being brave in the air so I can be more brave on the ground.

My heart was beating out of my chest. My words were jumbling in my mind. I felt unsteady and unsure, but like in my actual bones. I felt like I was shaking with literally every part of my body.

The last hour before I took the Goals Night Out stage to moderate a panel of some of the most incredible humans I’ve ever met, I was a nervous wreck.

Then I heard a song that reminded me who I am and it was game on. Because, just as I’ve practiced on all of the roller coasters, the music helped me remember in real time the chemicals fluttering through my body could be felt and experienced as excitement instead of nervousness.

So I said one last prayer, shook off the nerves, and chose excitement as my new friend Will Gill played “You Can’t Stop This” by Alex Warren.

Will is a keynote speaker and Wall Street Journal No. 1 Corporate DJ and Emcee, who’s worked multiple Super Bowls and is currently the Gameday Host for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

He’s also my friend. I am so grateful we connected, and for his kind words in this video about my work on one of the best days of my professional life. 🦋

Because here’s the other similarity for me with my roller coaster loving heart: the literal second I got off that stage my first thought was “let’s ride again!”

I can’t wait to get on another stage. Who do you know that might need a moderator or speaker?

Because as Dr. Tabatha Russell reminded me that night:

I am that girl.

“Is this real? Are you real?”

I don’t think I will ever recover from the first time I was recognized as the @emorollercoastergal. It happened on Sky Striker at @sfgreat_america as I was coaching a new friend to my right through fear and excitement in real time.

My new friend to the left actually fangirled shamelessly which honestly felt like a hug all its own. Because the way I see it, I didn’t just get hugs from all these super rad humans. The way I see it we all did.

At the foundation of my reality I am a connector. It actually makes my heart so happy to think about it as though everyone in these photos all over the country have also hugged, and that includes over 625K people who have ridden roller coasters with me online this week.

I am fully aware that sentence doesn’t make sense logically. But if we’re gonna beat Al we gotta stick together. And to me this is the way. These photos are chronological btw.

Meaning that we have more than 500 new friends to welcome this week also! Hello new friends! Welcome to the most empowering ride you’ll find on the internet.

This is the home of the Emo Roller Coaster Gal, but there’s a lot more of the story on TikTok, where there are another 14K
friends.

When I say my book is writing itself, this is what I mean.

Because do you see it? The way all these humans actually do connect with me should be a reminder of everyone in your world who you connect with. The world starts to open up when you understand we have the gift of connection to so many.

And what a gift it is to be present with it. 💛

It’s incredible what happens when you give yourself permission to simply show up authentically.

No shrinking. No edits. No “more like me and less like you.” No “laugh less.”

Just me. Honest. Real. A little unhinged. But uniquely and unequivocally me.

As my pal Max McNown says, I’m a little bit hurt but a lot more free. 🤟

Great buildings begin with blueprints.
Great events begin with intentional planning.✨

Planned, coordinated, & designed by @kalajian. kollective

Kalajian Kollective had the privilege of producing the exclusive Viva Project Reveal at Gensler Los Angeles for Wellpointe. It was an incredible collaboration that brought together design, innovation, and hospitality. We were honored to help bring this vision to life through an unforgettable launch experience.

Still riding the high from turning 40.

What an unreal night.

I’m beyond grateful to everyone who came out to celebrate, dance, laugh, and just have an absolute blast together. Being in a room filled with friends from so many different chapters of my life was overwhelming in the best way.

It meant the world to see so many friend groups represented—each of you has shaped who I am in some way. I don’t take that lightly for a second.

And a huge thank you to my sister @glamslamdetroit for flying out from Detroit to be there. Having family and friends together in one space made the night even more special.
It was a night I’ll never forget. I felt incredibly loved, supported, and lucky.

Walking into this next decade with a full heart and endless gratitude. What a way to start 40.

You don’t get to “fake it ‘til you make it” when your job is keeping food safe, moving, and on time.

Just got back from Americold’s Leadership Conference in Orlando and the phrase I kept hearing was “The Americold Advantage.”

We were honored to help build that Advantage in the room by bringing two powerhouse experiences to the stage:

@powellmeridithelliott — the kind of voice you want around when the pace picks up and the margin for error shrinks. Meredith lives in the real world of uncertainty, disruption, and leadership decisions that have to get made anyway. Practical, direct, and built for operators.

@djwillgill — because culture isn’t a slide deck. It’s a felt experience. Will has a rare gift for turning a room of leaders into one team with shared energy—and making the message land with momentum, not just applause.

Here’s the throughline that hit me: Americold’s mission to help customers feed the world only works when the values show up under pressure—Customer Service, Integrity, Giving Back, Accountability, Teamwork. That’s not branding. That’s operating code.

Big thanks to Elizabeth McMillan, Rob Powers, and Cathy Castellanos for the partnership and trust. Appreciate you letting us curate moments that matched the standard of the room.

Here is a lil bts from yesterday! #StrangerThings5

@strangerthingstv trailer premiere was a blast. So many people showed up in costumes and the energy was nonstop. There were even 80s cover bands. I had such a great time partnering with @djwillgill! ✨

Thank you to everyone who came out and thank you to @netflix @dorothy_creative @ciclavia for having me. ❤️
