The Angel City Girls showed up and showed OUT! 💙✨

Today, we had the incredible honor of serving as official volunteers with Angel City Sports, supporting adaptive athletes and experiencing firsthand the extraordinary power of determination, inclusion, and community.

One of the most inspiring moments was learning golf from a blind military veteran whose athletic journey includes swimming, cycling, and continuing to challenge what others might consider impossible. A powerful reminder that limitations do not define potential! 🙏🏽

We also had the pleasure of connecting with the organization’s founder, event leadership, and so many amazing individuals who share a passion for making a difference.

What started as a day of volunteering became an unforgettable experience filled with inspiration, meaningful connections, laughter, and purpose.

In 2021 I was introduced to adaptive golf at the Angel City Games hosted by @angelcitysports. While working the event as a volunteer photographer for the weekend, during some downtime with nobody else around, I started chatting with their adaptive golf coach David Kulla-Mader @dkmgolf about some of the equipment they had on display. After telling him I had grown up with several golfers in my family, but focused my time growing up on baseball and hockey, he told me to grab a club and take some swings.

Those 10 swings I took that day with David would lead me down a path I never would have dreamed of. A few months later I started attending the Adaptive Golf Clinics once a month at Westchester Golf Course in Los Angeles where I was introduced to an incredible crew of people who all helped jumpstart my love for the game of golf.

David was right that it was a shame I didn’t play more often, but the jokes on him. Five years later, I am the Assistant Golf Professional at Aspen Lakes Golf Course and I have played (almost) every day since I started my quest to qualify for the @USGA Adaptive Open. Two qualifiers later and the journey continues.

All of this was entirely thanks to David taking the time to show me that there were still sports I could compete in, to Angel City Sports creating an opportunity for thousands of people with disabilities through adaptive sport, and to all the incredible people I have met along the way who have helped me get to where I am today.

Sometimes golf gives you the shot you need not the one you want.

Strategy is one the most important part of the game here I was going to go right of the sand trap which would of put me in a position to have a small chip shot which hasn’t been the strongest part of my game.

As you see I ended up missing the ball on my first shot which instead created a 10 yard punch out .

Which put me in position to do a full swing 56-degree wedge, which is a lot more comfortable for me right now. Until I develop my softer hands I been working on 🥲

Which after the results I believe was the smartest play.

One birthday wish from 9 years ago, now my dream come true! This is 40! 🦋 (1st part of the video is from my 31st birthday in 2017 vs. this weekend celebrating my 40th! ) 😆 Crazy transition from starting my 30’s to now starting my 40’s hence my love and connection for butterflies. Golf has taught me more about life than any classroom ever could.
Because golf is hard… and so is life.

If I can learn how to stay patient through a bad round, bounce back after a bad shot, and keep showing up even when progress feels slow… maybe I can figure out how to be good at life too.

Every stroke is like a moment passing by.
Once you swing, it’s done.
You can’t replay it.
You can’t take it back.
All you can do is walk forward to the next shot.

That’s life.

Don’t compound your mistakes.
Manage the course in front of you.
Control what you can control.
Some lies will be unfair. Some days the wind won’t be in your favor. But how you respond will always matter more than the setback itself.

Take it one shot at a time.
One day at a time.
Stay present. Stay faithful. Stay the course. ⛳️

Life and golf got one thing in common… neither of them is easy.

Some days you hit it pure, everything feels aligned, and the path looks clear. Other days, nothing goes right — bad lies, tough breaks, shots you know you can hit but just don’t. That’s life too.

But here’s what golf taught me…
If I can stay patient through the bad shots, stay disciplined when it’s uncomfortable, and keep showing up no matter the score — I’ll be alright in life.

That’s why adaptive golf hits different for me.
It’s not separate. It’s not “over here.”
It’s one of the only spaces where we get to line it up right alongside able-bodied players and compete — no limits, no labels, just the game.

That’s real inclusion.
That’s real growth.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not about the circumstances…
it’s about how you play the shot in front of you…
