CTIJF is changing shape. For 2027, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival is expanding beyond its traditional weekend format into a month-long city-wide programme throughout March. The idea is bigger than more shows. It turns the festival into a city season. A weekend creates intensity. A month creates rhythm. More venues. More public spaces. More community access. More room for education. More chances for local businesses, artists and neighbourhood spaces to benefit. That matters because jazz in Cape Town is not only a ticketed product. It is memory. Inheritance. City sound. Civic rhythm. In a year shaped by the loss of Abdullah Ibrahim, the expansion carries even more weight. A city does not honour jazz only by remembering its giants. It honours jazz by making sure the sound still has somewhere to live. Read the full story on viranova.co.za #ViranovaTrendRoom #CTIJF #CapeTownJazz #SouthAfricanJazz #MusicCulture

Inspired by the spirit of the Mother City, our new hero illustration captures the essence of Cape Town through its iconic landmarks, local flora, music and the people who bring the city to life. As the CTIJF enters an exciting new chapter, this vibrant visual identity reflects our vision of a festival that celebrates creativity, connection and community.
