🧙‍♀️HOCUS POCUS🧙‍♀️

I'm joining in with the #oldskoolchallengeclub #hocuspocus challenge created by @jac_in_a_book 🧙‍♀️

I've seen some very clever potions created over the last few days, so thought I'd turn my hand at it 🎃🧙‍♀️

By THE UNQUIET GRAVE the DEAD WOMAN WALKING cackles over her cauldron, bubbling away on A SLOW BURNING FIRE.

With a splash of BLACK RIVER, A SLIVER OF DARKNESS, a petal from THE BLUE ROSE, a dollop of MAD HONEY, along with 206 BONES, she will no longer be lonely, she will create her mate 🧙‍♀️🎃

(If only it was that easy 😂🧙‍♀️)

If you're interested in the #oldskoolchallengeclub and are #hereforthefunnotthenumbers check out @hook.me.a.book, @chapter1.page1, or @jac_in_a_book pages for more details!

Tagging a few to create their own #hocuspocus potion 🧙‍♀️🎃

🎨 My Booksta In Colour 🎨

Thank you to @dlight_reads for the tag in this fun challenge, I am finally getting around to it. I loved looking back through my photos, seeing how my account has changed over time. One thing will never change, and it's my love for COLOUR 🌈

(I have also realised which colours I gravitate towards and which ones I had to search extensively for 😆)

❓️ Is there a colour you gravitate towards in general, clothing or decoration wise? Does your home have a colour scheme?

Tagging some to try this #bookchallange if you haven't already! Also, if you see this, consider yourself tagged 🥰

🪄𝙻𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚝𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝙻𝚒𝚝𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎🪄

It’s been a crazy busy week here! I’m prepping to moderate a panel tonight on women and elections, I have three new clients all starting up plus my existing clients to keep moving along, plus all my usual stuff… But I had to jump on before the deadline to post my #levitatingliterature for the #oldskoolchallenge !

This was always a fun one — so glad they brought it back!

How’s your week been? Any highlights? My highlight, BTW, is to come — my older son coming home from college tomorrow!

⚰️The TBR Graveyard ⚰️

You know those books you pick up because you really want to read them… and then somehow they end up waiting patiently on your shelves while other books keep jumping to the front of the queue? 👀

That’s this stack.

These aren’t books I’ve forgotten about or don’t want to read. Quite the opposite — they’re books I’m still looking forward to. I just have absolutely no idea when I’ll get to them.

So, for this week’s @oldskoolchallengeclub challenge, I dug out some of my longest-standing TBR residents and gave them their moment in the spotlight.

Will I finally get around to reading them?
I certainly hope so. ❤️
Just… don’t ask me when. 😂

📖 The Defence — Steve Cavanagh
📖 The Plea — Steve Cavanagh
📖 The Liar — Steve Cavanagh
📖 Thirteen — Steve Cavanagh
📖 I Thought I Knew You — Penny Hancock
📖 Nemirni mrtveci — Simon Beckett
📖 This Might Hurt — Stephanie Wrobel
📖 Even Though It’s Breaking — Shannon Jump
📖 Everything After — Jill Santopolo

Qotd: Which book has been sitting on your TBR the longest? or. Do you have any on tbr and we read together?

Graveyard Shift

Thanks to @oldskoolchallengeclub for another great challenge. Here is a selection of books that have been on my shelves for the longest time. However, since I have just unhauled 154 recently, and these are by my autobuy authors, I will read them at some point.

What book title has been on your bookshelf for the longest time?

I have tagged the usual crew, but anyone can have a go.

🪄 A Spell of Books for October 📚🖤

Thank you so much to @dlight_reads for tagging me in #SpellTheMonthInBooks! And Happy birthday fo your lovely mom @kate.the.book.nerd

Of course, I had to join in and spell out OCTOBER with some of the books currently making their way onto my shelves. 📚🖤🎃

✨ O — Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune @carleyfortune
🖤 C — Cruelty Free by Caroline Glenn @carocglenn
🎃 T — Too Old for This by Samantha Downing @smariedowning
🕯️ O — Only the Guilty Survive by Kate Robards @krobards_author
🎂 B — Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
👻 E — Echoes of Memory by Sara Driscoll
🏃 R — The Running Club by Ali Lowe @ali_lowe_author

And because one challenge is clearly not enough for October… 🫣

I’m also taking on Week 5 of #levitatingliterature from the #oldskoolchallengeclub @oldskoolchallengeclub 🪄📚

The idea is to work a little magic and make your book actually float — fiction or non-fiction, anything goes. No AI, just some creativity, a little camera trickery, and hopefully enough magic to pull it off. 😉🪄

Wingardium Leviosa! ✨

I’ve also included a few of my favourite hiking moments with my husband from September. 🥾🍂❤️ These adventures and the time we spent together were definitely some of the highlights of my month. 🏔️🥰

QOTD: 📚🖤 What was your favourite book of September?

And which of these seven books would you most like to pick up? 👀 Would you dare to try making one levitate? 🪄😉

🌻SEPTEMBER WRAP-UP🌻

Spring has sprung in NZ, and it's rained pretty much consistently for the last month ☔️ and October hasn't started any differently!!

Anyway, to the books! Another 9 books read; 4 audio, 5 physical and 6 from my shelves 😁 The stand out of the month again was my non fiction read, what an incredibly resilient woman!

🌻First Time Caller by B.K. Borison ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
☔️The Impossible Fortune by @misterosman ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌻A Hymn to Life by Giséle Pelicot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
☔️Gallant by V.E. Schwab ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
🌻We Burned So Bright by T.J. Klune ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
☔️Off to the Races by Elsie Silver ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
🌻The Lamplighters Bookshop by Sophie Austin ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
☔️Dear Debbie by Freida McFadden ⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌻It's in His Kiss by @juliaquinnauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

I'm back up to date with my challenges:
1 x Neglected faithfuls
1 x Non fiction pick n mix
2 x IRL book club read (August & September)
1 x Mother/daughter buddy read

I only have 2 colours to go in my colour palette challenge, red and brown, I'm reading a red book at the moment... I'm going to have to go digging for a brown one!

What was your highlight of the month, reading or otherwise?

I participated in my first Deadly Dozen relay, the running nearly killed me, but the strength elements were pretty good. Ridiculously we're doing it again early in November 🤷‍♀️

❤️ Red by not read 😬

The beautiful @jazzy_bookshelf tagged me in this challenge and I’ll be honest, I was expecting to be horrified by the amount of books I would like on my TBR 😆

This isn’t all of them, I just grabbed a bunch that were a mixture of shade, but I’m happy to say there wasn’t too many more!

Which ones have you read?
❤️ One by One - Chris Carter
❤️ Good Bad Girl - Alice Feeney
❤️ Six Wild Crowns - Holy Race
❤️ Unconditional - QB Tyler
❤️ O Goalie Night - KM Gillis
❤️ Good Spirits - BK Borison
❤️ So Not Meant to Be - Meghan Quinn
❤️ Dishonestly Yours - Krista & Becca Ritchie
❤️ Dirty Rowdy Thing - Christina Lauren
❤️ The Freshman - Monica Murphy
❤️ The Junior - Monica Murphy

I’ve tagged some friends to share their own stack 📚

Bookitechture

Another challenge from #oldskoolchallengeclub

Here are the first six books I could find that have buildings on the front. They were all sent to me by publishers and are all hardbacks bar one. The top three are on my TBR pile. The bottom three I have read and they are all 5 star reads.

I have tagged the usual crew but anyone can have a go.

I'm definitely a fan of beautiful buildings. What is your favourite building? Mine is probably the Waterstones shop in Newcastle. The exterior so beautiful. I also like all the old buildings and houses in York and Harrogate.

I have tagged the usual crew, but anyone can have a go.
