Experience the rhythms, movement, and spirit of Senegal this weekend at the CTM & AMM Festival, happening today through Sunday, May 24. Returning to The Ailey Studios, this annual gathering honors the life and legacy of Abdou Maty M’Baye and celebrates the enduring impact of the M’Baye family, a renowned griot and musical lineage that has carried West African dance and drum traditions across generations and communities around the world. ✨ Today, December 10th, is our second-to-last class of the year. On December 17th we close our 2025 cycle, and we return on January 7th, 2026. ✨ My heart is overflowing with gratitude. Hello Beautiful Dance Students! The African-Brazilian Dance Workshops were an incredible success, and I just want to say: THANK YOU! I am so proud of each and every one of you. Truly, I could say it over and over again—thank you! Even though this message comes a little later, it’s still right on time—because appreciation and gratitude never expire. I want to express how deeply thankful I am for all the students who participated in the World Dance Workshops Celebration 2025 at Ailey Extension. Ten weeks of dance, creation, and choreography—what a powerful journey we shared! It was such a joy to spend that time with you all. Keep dancing, keep moving, and keep shining your own light. And most importantly, keep your crown on—always! A special thank you to Darnetha, our incredible rehearsal assistant, who also represented me—Janete da Silva—on the day of the performances. I couldn’t be there with you all because I left for my trip to Madagascar on June 20, the very same day. Knowing that Darnetha was there leading with such care and strength gave me peace and joy. It truly wouldn’t have been possible without you. 🙏🏽💛 Bruno, thank you for your stunning solo! Even with a short time to rehearse, you brought such power and presence to the stage—amazing work! And to Ailey Extension—thank you for opening your doors and giving our students the chance to experience the stage. Your continued support creates space for so many dancers to grow, shine, and be celebrated. We are grateful for your commitment to community, culture, and art. To all the dance students: thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can’t wait to dance with you all again next year! With love, pride, and endless gratitude, Janete da Silva @dlmbaye @brunolaroyes @noiretropicalb @jameelapenny Alex-Think, Angelica Falcin, Austin Thierry, ~Bene Haskel, ~Lauralyn Adebayo❤️❤️
