Did you know that some people can’t get the nutrition they need from food? I have a condition called Chronic Intestinal Psuedo Obstruction, which affects how my digestive system works. My body depends on TPN to get the nutrition it needs to keep me alive.

TPN stands for total parenteral nutrition. It’s a special mixture of nutrients, including protein, fats, sugar, vitamins, and minerals, that goes directly into my bloodstream through my central line, called a Broviac instead of going through my digestive system. For me, it’s not just extra nutrition. It’s my lifeline!

Living on TPN means pumps, tons of medical supplies, hospital stays, and risks like infections. It can be hard, but TPN also gives me the chance to do what I love.

I’m so thankful for Primary Children’s Hospital, where my doctors, nurses, and care team help me navigate the hard days and give me the specialized care I need.

I’m also so grateful for Children’s Miracle Network! Through donations and fundraising, CMN helps support children’s hospitals like Primary Children’s. That support helps provide lifesaving care, medical equipment, research, and programs like art and music therapy that make hospital life a little brighter for kids like me.

Even though TPN is a big part of my life, I still get to just be a kid! I hope you learned something new about TPN this week!

Before @brayden.climbs helped build @dmatutah, Dance Marathon had already helped shape his life.

At 8 years old, a motocross accident left him with a traumatic brain injury and hemorrhagic stroke. He spent a month at @childrensofal, followed by years of physical, occupational and speech therapy as he relearned how to walk, talk and use the left side of his body.

A few years later, Brayden became a Champion and spent five or six years connected to the @uamiracle community.

For Brayden, those students gave him something he needed during a difficult part of growing up: a place where he felt heard, included and genuinely wanted.

“That experience is a direct line to why I helped start the program at Utah.”

When Brayden arrived at the @universityofutah and realized there was no Dance Marathon program, he wanted to change that. Today, he serves as External Director as the program heads into its second official year.

Brayden is helping build the kind of community that once meant so much to him, so more kids and families can know that same feeling of being welcomed, celebrated and cared for. 💛

What an amazing time.

The amazing effort and love that everyone put into this event was amazing. I truly could not have asked for a better team.

Having the opportunity to be a part of Dance Marathon at the U has been an incredible experience. Having the opportunity to make an impact like this really makes me happy.

At the end of the night, getting to see the amount raised for Primary children’s Hospital made me cry. All the hard work everyone has put in to get to this moment.

I can’t wait to next years Main event to make it even bigger than before.

Today, the University of Utah is coming together for Dance Marathon to support Primary Children’s Hospital! From 2–9 PM, at University of Utah-Impact and Prosperity Epicenter. Students will be on their feet, dancing with purpose and spreading hope to kids all across Utah. Come dance for the kids, and make a lasting impact for kids all around Utah! I am so proud of my differences, and what makes me, me! Each day I am able to spread my wings a little wider, soaring in my own unique, beautifully rare journey!🦋💜
