From catching her personal best bass to mastering a pedal-drive kayak, Jocelyn’s fishing journey took a huge leap today. We surprised her with a new kayak of her own to keep, so the adventures can continue! Joslyn is an amazing girl that I met when her and her Mom came to one of my kid’s events. I learned of her story and the next day I surprised her with a brand new fishing rod. But it didn’t stop there. I promised I would take her fishing in my kayaks and teach her how to catch big fish. On her first trip out, she caught her personal best bass and we had a great time! At the end of the day, I was so proud of how great she did and how kind she was to other kids at my event that I surprised her with giving her her own pedal drive kayak! Joslyn had a tough start to her childhood but luckily was adopted by an amazing mother so she could be raised to be such an amazing person at such a young age! It is not always about the fish we catch, but the memories we keep! Keep casting Joslyn and you never know what you can catch! #Fishing #Surprise #Kayak #KidsFishing #OutdoorAdventures

INCLUSIVITY One of the things I love most about working in the community is making sure the programs I create are for everybody. Today at the Youth Fishing League was a perfect reminder of that. Seeing this young man out by the water, fishing from his wheelchair and having himself a good ole time, meant a lot to me. If I had to take one thing away from today, it would simply be this: I hope you had the BEST day ever. Thank you for coming out and fishing with us. This is what it’s all about, making sure every kid gets a chance to make a memory. #YouthFishingLeague #FishingForAll #InclusiveOutdoors #GetKidsOutside #OneMemoryOneMomentOneMission

135 FOLKS SHOWED UP! Our first-ever Fall Fishing Fun Day was a whole vibe and such a great way to start winding down Year 2 of the Youth Fishing League. It looked like the rain was coming. We had the ponchos ready and everything … but Mother Nature gave us a break and let us fish! Kwasi and I are truly grateful for every volunteer who crossed our path today and everybody who jumped in to help make the day happen. But the best part? Watching kids and families catch a fish for the very first time. That’s what this is all about. Creating memories, getting families outside, and introducing the next generation to fishing. Bigs ups to The Boy Scout Troop, DICK’S Sporting Goods, The Worm Queen and Bohrer Park 135 more folks at the water One Memory. One Moment. One Mission. #YouthFishingLeague #FishingFun #FamilyFishing #DMVKids #OutdoorKids
