Burning Man is a wild human experience that’s impossible to fully capture with words.

No, it’s not perfect. Yes, it’s full of contradictions. And yes, it’s also hard.

One thing is for sure: Burning Man is an opportunity to experience a world nearing utopia for the space of a week, and that can have a lasting, transformative impact on people. It did on me the first time I went twelve years ago, and again this year. This makes me eager to keep attending while helping to push the needle in the right direction.

I’m so grateful for the magical experience, for the weather gods who gifted us with the easiest conditions seen in a long time, and for the workings of the universe that brought me there despite my very last-minute decision to go—and that crafted exactly the experience I needed at this point in time.

I’m incredibly grateful to have been welcomed with open arms by the @discospaceshuttle family this year. What a beautiful community ❤️ Experiencing the burn with you all was such a gift. And the build! What fun it was to bring the camp to life together. 🚀🪩

Thank you to everyone who made my experience so wonderful—friends old and new, whether planned or serendipitously bumped into.

This one’s for the books 🔥✨

PLAY // Alongside purpose and pleasure, play is one of my words this year.

It’s more than just having fun — it’s a biological imperative that we’ve lost sight of in our adult lives. Play lowers our stress, promotes healthy dopamine release and is a powerful portal to neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to change and grow)

According to our favorite neuroscientist Andrew Huberman, play is homeostatically regulated meaning if we are restricted from playing for a certain amount of time, we will play more when given the opportunity.

Which makes perfect sense that half of my tribe is dancing in the dust right now at Burning Man to make up for lost time.

Remembering some of my most joyful, ridiculous and liberating moments on the playa…

…heckling crazy marathoners one morning dressed as sharks

…getting chased down the road by a moving porta potty

…watching the Man burn from our art car and my hair catching on fire from an ember minutes later

…getting lost looking for a Lee Burridge set and discovering a giant gramophone (La Victrola) playing jazz at sunrise

…jumping into an impromptu Disco Space Shuttle family portrait which makes me miss my people so much

Finding time to play and experiencing wonder with others can stimulate our imagination, help us solve problems, foster intimacy and flood our bodies with feel-good chemicals.

Could there be a better prescription for health & happiness? #playful #burningman #neuroscience
