@distrokid is blocking us from release over false copyright infringement and is refusing to help.

Pocket Change 5 is a compilation album of remastered Pocket Change EP’s by KA$HAUN with 5 new songs as well. The album has been ready for release for over a week now, but because of one false copyright claim, we cannot release it.

The issue stems from a Splice sample. On July 4th, 2025 a song called Get Nasty (feat. Peace.Godz) [prod. Aryeh Stone] off of Pocket Change 2 was released with no issues. A Splice sample “ DS_ECV_132_vocal_phrase_loop_i_just_wanna_freak_get_nasty_dry_X.wav “ was used in the outro. On September 25th, 2025, a song by Luna Lucci releases called Nasty. We believe Luna Lucci or someone on their team copyrighted the song using the same Splice sample. Distrokid’s sample detection system flagged our remastered version of Get Nasty despite the fact that the original song is still on streaming services with no issues, was released first, and this sample is royalty free when downloaded from Splice. We have reached out via email to Luna Lucci and await a response.

This is not an uncommon occurrence. Splice has implemented a system where you can download a license for a sample to clear up these exact copyright issues. Within less than 2 days, we emailed Distrokid with this licensee which you can see on the next couple of slides. And yet, after a week, no response or release clearance.

It is the responsibility of Distrokid (and all music distribution services) to correct these mistakes especially when sufficient and legally binding evidence is sent. We pay way too much in annual subscription fees for our music to not be distributed and our samples to be selectively cleared.
As someone who has used Distrokid since 2019 (with 2 of those years being on their most expensive tier btw…) with little to no issues, I find this entire situation disappointing and emblematic of the ongoing fight between creatives and those who control the means of distribution.

We demand Distrokid allow our release to streaming services and better communication from their support staff.
