25.051: Advent Calendar Adventures 2025: Days 4 & 5

“Good morning, Penny!”

“Liam! I’ve missed you the past couple days. Where have you been?”

“I have strep throat. Mom took me to the doctor the other day. Doc said I need to stay home and avoid close contact with other people. Also, I am now taking meds to clear up the strep. Sitting at home, all day, has made me a bit stir-crazy. When dad invited me to help him setup our Christmas lawn display, I dressed quickly and came outside. I’m not sure if we are done or not. Dad wandered off to get something.”

“Your display looks very interesting. Why is there a guy skiing on your roof?”

“Liam, I’m back with my camera. I want to snap some pics of the first snowfall of the season. And snap pics of our wonderful yard display. Who’s your friend?”

“Dad, this is Penny Penguin. She lives across the street. We are classmates and are both in the Christmas Pageant, this year.”

“Cool, son. As for the guy on the roof… I call him Uncle Eddie. When I was a kid, my dad used to tell stories of when he was young. One that stayed with me all these years was the story of his brother, Eddie, climbing onto the roof, wearing skis. He was practicing for the Winter Olympics. Eddie wanted to be a ski jumper.”

“What happened to your uncle, Mr. Behr?”

“Let’s just say his stunt did not go as planned. Fortunately, there was a deep pile of snow where he landed. He only broke one arm. Say, kids, how about a couple of pictures of the two of you? And look, that toy bear looks just like you, Liam.”

“That’s what I said, Mr. B. Mini Percy Polar Bear came out of my advent calendar on day 3. This scooter came out on day 4.”

“Sweet! And, you might say I came out of the calendar on day 5. Now, everybody smile and say ‘CHEESE’!”

Stay tuned for more Advent Calendar Adventures!

Happy day, my friends‼️🐻‍❄️🐧❄️😎

PS. Liam’s dad has a vast collection of inflatable characters to still put up in the yard.

25.047: A Nightmare Before Thanksgiving

Down on the farm, the elders delight in regaling the younglings with tales of monsters coming to the farm. One such monsterl, Thanksgiving is said to visit the farm once a year. It always arrives ravenously hungry. Its favorite foods include succulent turkeys and plump piggies.

Upon hearing Thanksgiving is on its way for its annual visit, Tommy Turkey and Patty Pig decided to take drastic actions to protect themselves from this fiendish feaster. Starting in October, this dynamic duo began searching the farm for a means of escape.

Tommy and Patty continued searching daily. They did not want to disappear as had many of their friends and family in past years. They knew there had to be some safe way out.

A few days ago, they discovered a hot air balloon, fully inflated, parked beside the barn. Apparently one of the farmer’s friends had come for a visit with his balloon. He used it to give the farmer’s children rides high in the sky. Tommy and Patty discretely observed the balloon in operation. This would be their way to freedom.

On the first night of November’s new moon, Tommy and Patty stealthily slipped out of their beds and met at the balloon. Without a word, they climbed into the balloon’s basket. They cast off the mooring lines that held the balloon down. Whoosh! The balloon quickly ascended into the night sky.

Free at last! Tommy and Patty enjoyed their new view of the world from their lofty perch. They had no idea how to control the balloon and decided to let it take them wherever it wanted.

Suddenly, a strong, cold wind came blowing in from the northwest. Ahead of it sped a massive thunderhead cloud. As it drew closer, Tommy and Patty could hear the loud rumbling of thunder. This was soon followed by massive bolts of lightning. The storm raged around them.

Today, down on the farm, the elders tell a new story to frighten the younglings into obedience. It is the tale of two friends who tried to escape destiny and ended up in an even worse situation.

What became of Tommy and Patty? Try not to think of them as you gorge yourself at this year’s Thanksgiving feast.

Happy Thanksgiving‼️🦃🐷😎

25.021: The Time Traveler, pt. 2

After a number of setbacks, distractions, and other delays, Jonathan Carver has at long last launched his first ever time travel mission.

It’s Friday, the weekend is here! Jonathan plans to spend his weekend traveling through time. First destination: Costa Rica, one year ago. Just a short Time Hop to be sure the Time Tunnelator (TT) is fully operational. Also, by going to a place he has never been avoids creating a Time Paradox—when a time traveler meets his/her self in the past.

Jonathan wheeled TT out of its hiding place amongst the castle ruins. He assumed no one would be exploring this rickety old castle, which he happens to own. Once outside, Jonathan adjusted all the settings to specify place and time of his destination. Then he hopped aboard and flipped-on the power switch.

TT started shaking as its great wings began to flap. The propeller began to spin. Then TT began to roll forward. Faster and faster until it leapt into the air. Soon, he was high above the castle.

In a flash, TT slipped out of the Present Time and into the Time Stream. It was smooth sailing until TT fell into an unexpected Vortex in which a powerful storm was raging.

TT was buffeted about by the powerful electro-magnetic storm. TT’s instruments began flashing messages. Johnathan worried the storm may blow him off course, causing him to come out at a different destination than planned.

Then he popped out of the Vortex and into a new Present Time. Everything was lushly green, as he expected of Costa Rica. He spotted a clearing where he could land.

TT touched down and rolled to a stop. Johnathan felt relieved he had successfully traveled through time. With that thought in mind, he climbed down to the ground. Once both feet were on the ground, he felt the ground beneath his feet tremble.

He paused to consider what might cause this tremor. He was interrupted by a voice calling to him, “Hey, Mister! Over here! Run!!!” As Johnathan ran, he heard what sounded like thunder behind him. The ground shook harder than before. Could this be an earthquake?

Johnathan stepped through a stand of trees and into a protected grotto. There he saw…

25.017: The Old West

I built FunWhole set #F9026, “Old West Sheriff’s Office” to serve as a prop for my tale involving Black Bart and his gang. This set has 1240 pieces including a lighting kit. It went together without problems. Then I built FunWhole set #F9052, ”Western Stagecoach” as an additional prop. This set has 293 pieces plus lights.

These sets will soon appear in the next episode of my Western Tale. I have two additional FunWhole Old West sets awaiting their turns to be built and then added to my Old West town of Red Rock. The “Western Saloon,” set #F9021v2.0 is planned to be my next build. This set has 2016 pieces.

The “General Store,” set #F9057, with 1895 pieces will follow next. With these three buildings in place, Red Rock will begin to look like a proper Old West town. Gradually, I will add the three remaining Old West sets currently in FunWhole’s catalog: “old West Post Office,” “West Train Station,” and “Western Freight Train.” I would love to see FunWhole add a Western Bank to their Old West lineup.

I am looking forward to sharing this tale with you. Black Bart and his gang are looking to make a dramatic return to Red Rock. Sheriff Matt sent them on a wild goose chase to the non-existent town of Fort Conowingo. He will pay for his trickery!

Happy final full week of March 2025. We will be one quarter of the way through this year in just one week. Have a lovely week, my friends‼️🤠😎
