READY WRAP: HOW MUCH PRESSURE CAN A STRETCH & WRAP REALLY GENERATE?
@samslishman and I put the Ready Wrap to the test using a manometer—and the results were remarkable.

Ready Wrap far exceeded every other product and device we evaluated, ultimately exceeding the measurement limits of the manometer. During testing, one of the measurement bags actually burst under the pressure generated.

So what makes the difference?

Material + elongation.

Ready Wrap is manufactured from a synthetic material known as TPE—thermoplastic elastomer. Our measurements demonstrated a 3×+ elongation factor, compared with approximately 2× for other stretch-and-wrap products we evaluated, including the SWAT-T.

That additional elongation allows the material to maintain greater rebound tension as it stretches around the limb—continuing to generate significant circumferential pressure rather than rapidly losing tension.

But the most interesting finding wasn’t simply peak pressure.

The most interesting its ability to compensation for fluid loss.

After simulating 1,000 mL of fluid loss, Ready Wrap was still able to compensate and maintain pressures above 200 mmHg.

Compare that with our previous evaluation of the CAT, where removing only 40 mL of fluid resulted in approximately a 100 mmHg pressure drop.

The takeaway:

Stretch-and-wrap devices have a tremendous ability to compensate for changes in limb volume while maintaining pressure.

This is why we believe we need to stop looking at tourniquets simply as fixed bands and start evaluating how material properties, elongation, rebound tension, and pressure compensation affect real-world performance.

Generating pressure isn’t the same as directing pressure.

And understanding how a device behaves as the limb changes may be just as important as the pressure it generates at application.

Control ETD style bandage vs Emergency bandage vs Hemguard

In the previous video, the control bandage generated almost no pressure differential between the pad location and surrounding chambers. The Emergency, or Israeli, bandage generated approximately 40 mmHg beneath the pressure bar. In this video, we evaluate the HemGuard bandage from 6.8 Medical Solutions, which generated approximately 62 mmHg.

The key design difference is the height riser. By triangulating pressure beneath the pressure bar, it concentrates force at the target location instead of distributing it circumferentially. This allows the HemGuard bandage to achieve the highest degree of isolated pressure while limiting pressure transfer to surrounding compartments.

Dr. Sam Slishman and I measure pressure in each chamber of a simulated leg, comparing the Emergency bandage with the HemGuard bandage.

We evaluate:

• Pressure differentials between chambers
• Isolated pressure beneath the bar
• Pressure transferred to surrounding compartments

The question isn’t simply:

“How much pressure is being generated?”

It’s:

“Which pressure bandage can isolate the greatest amount of pressure exactly where it’s needed?”

Because isolated pressure differs from circumferential pressure—and that distinction may be critical for hemorrhage control while reducing unnecessary constriction of surrounding tissues.

Don’t just generate pressure.
Isolate it.
Direct it.
Measure it.

Next video a direct head to head using the Emergency Bandage with the Advantage Pressure Bar. The data is what the data is.

ISOLATED VS. CIRCUMFERENTIAL PRESSURE
Now we take the testing a step further.
In this video, we’re assessing the pressure differential across the individual chambers of the simulated leg, while simultaneously evaluating the isolated pressure achieved with the Advantage Pressure Bar.
Isolated pressure is fundamentally different from circumferential pressure.
Circumferential pressure distributes force around the limb.
Isolated pressure concentrates force at a specific location.
We want to understand exactly what happens when that pressure is targeted to a specific point rather than distributed across the entire circumference of the limb.
The data we’re evaluating:
• Pressure within each individual chamber
• Pressure differentials between chambers
• The isolated pressure achieved directly beneath the Advantage Pressure Bar
• How much pressure is transferred to the target location
• How much pressure is transmitted to the surrounding compartments and vectors
The question isn’t simply:
“How much pressure is being generated?”
The question is:
“How much pressure can we isolate exactly where it’s needed?”
Because isolated pressure is different from circumferential pressure—and understanding that difference may be critical to controlling hemorrhage while mitigating unnecessary constriction of the surrounding tissues.
Don’t just generate pressure.
Isolate it.
Direct it.
Measure it.
Now let’s see what the numbers tell us.

We would like to thank @medtac for hosting us at the Jornadas Internacionales de Medicina Táctica y Operacional 2026 in Salamanca, Mexico.

It was an honor to join experts from across Latin America as they shared lessons learned from real-world operations, advancements in drone integration and counter-drone mitigation, and the latest updates and innovations in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).

The conference brought together police officers, cadets, military personnel, and medical professionals committed to improving operational medicine through collaboration, education, and innovation.

Thank you for the opportunity to share knowledge, learn from one another, and continue advancing casualty care where it matters most.

The harsh reality.

Not everyone has the financial resources to equip their teams with the current standard-of-care windlass tourniquets—let alone many of the latest medical innovations.

As we’ve traveled around the world, we’ve consistently found that the communities with the greatest need often have the least access to life-saving medical equipment. That doesn’t sit right with us.

At 6:8 Medical Solutions, we believe everyone deserves access to quality medical devices, regardless of where they live or the size of their budget.

Many large companies won’t even attend events in these regions because they don’t see enough return on investment. I know this because I worked for one. They had a term for it: “no gross margin dollar available market.” In other words, the market wasn’t considered financially worthwhile.

That’s okay. We’ll continue to show up.

We’ll continue to teach, support, and provide solutions wherever we can.

Our Ready Wrap was designed with versatility in mind—a high-compression wrap with multiple applications that can make a difference in resource-limited environments. While intended as a single-use medical device, we’ve seen the reality on the ground: in many parts of the world, these products are carefully cleaned and reused because it’s the only option available.

When violence and traumatic injuries are an everyday reality, having an effective medical tool available is often far better than having nothing at all.

Innovation should never be reserved only for those who can afford it. Saving lives shouldn’t depend on geography or economics.
