My name is Quincy LeNear Gossfield, I am an award-winning TV producer/director, and multidisciplinary artist. I created Black Cupboard™️ simply because I was inspired by the incredible amount of Black-owned products I discovered during my commitment to redirect my dollars back into my own community and I want to encourage others to do the same. ⁣

Food is a large part of my background and upbringing. I come from a long line of cooks, chefs, and restauranteurs. A lesser known fact is that I am also the former owner and head chef of Soul Q’sine, a catering company that once serviced Black Hollywood & television series such as Moesha, the Parkers, and Girlfriends, during the late nineties.⁣

My renewed dedication to empowering my community economically, my work in TV & Media production, and my love for food was the perfect marriage to create Black Cupboard™️.⁣

We are not recreating the wheel, we are joining and continuing the incredible efforts of amazing curators before us such as @webuyblack and @shoppeblack along with many other amazing Black-owned influencers. ⁣
⁣
Our specific focus is Black-owned foods, beverages, spirits, and celebrating the wonderful Black food community. Our singular goal is to build Black Kitchens across the country by connecting people to underrepresented Black-owned foods and increasing the purchases of Black-owned groceries in homes by a minimum of 20%. ⁣

Time to stop asking of others what we should be doing for ourselves. Your corporate responsibility, name changes, and fleeting PR pledges to solidarity is all great on paper. Go ahead and pat yourselves on the back. But changing your name from Redskins doesn’t reinvest in red-skinned communities. Proclaiming that Black Lives matter doesn’t close the wealth gap or repair the communities you’ve disinvested from yet capitalize in. Corporate America will do whatever it takes to make this unequally yoked marriage stay together, to keep us working the streets to bring daddy his money for a nice dress. ⁣
⁣
The only way to be free is to LEAVE. A DIVORCE. Not just a trial separation. Trust that we can make it on our own and we don’t need [the] man to make us whole. We have each other - and that’s the most empowering relationship we’ve been taught to ignore because that’s the one that threatens their control the most. ⁣

We have to be owners of our pipelines.
