What happens when you bring a Kenyan video game into a film space? 🎮🎬🇰🇪

Earlier this week, I shared a video on my YouTube Channel celebrating five East African filmmakers who received film development grants from the French Embassy during Docubox’s Shorts, Shorts and Shots event.

As promised, here's a look at the Gaming Corner, where @kuntacontent showcased their game @hiruthegame through a partnership with @docubox_eadff

It's always exciting watching people experience HIRU at the different showcases I've attended so far. Seeing players try the game, react to the gameplay and cheer each other on is a reminder of how much can happen when Kenyan games meet new audiences. 🙌🏾

I look forward to seeing more Kenyan game developers showcasing their games in spaces like these!

🎮 Have you played a Kenyan-made game recently? Tell me about it in the comments!

Red Africa (2022) is a documentary that covers the work of Soviet film crews in Africa, from 1960 to 1990, identifying and undermining their perspective, or their bluff, when it comes to the recurring themes and motifs of propaganda associated with this continent.

🎬The film was the last screening of our Kamera Kwanza series this year. It featured an engaging Q&A with the film director, Alexander Markov, and the audience who were keen about the art of filmmaking.

Thank you for your participation an attendance throughout the year!
We look forward to screening films with diverse themes and inspiring arts of filmmaking.💚

From a residency to a story I’m proud to share. 🎬

Following my residency with @docubox_eadff, I went on to produce and direct a five-part docu-series on motherhood. A series rooted in strength, hope and honesty.

Motherhood is rarely one-dimensional. Behind the experiences are stories of resilience, vulnerability, sacrifice, growth and hope. This project was an opportunity to explore those realities with honesty and care.

I’m grateful to my incredible team: @ommykilaaa @sander_ochy @me_marlyne

Thank you to our partners @docubox_eadff, @irisstoryforimpact and @jhrkenya for being part of this journey.

The five-part series is now available on YouTube. I hope these stories move you, stay with you and remind you of the strength found in our everyday lives.

🎥 Watch the series on YouTube.
