A Story Worth Sharing

Meet Zo who in June 2021 was a victim of gun violence which nearly cost him his life. While he was hospitalized he continued virtual learning and obtained his high school diploma during the summer session from ANACOSTIA High School.

Zo said he was tired of the streets and how it has nearly cost him his life. He wanted out and needed some direction. He asked our executive director Dr. Fields to help him change his life.

In September he enrolled in D.O.E.S. Project Empowerment Program. He successfully completed the program on October 15 and was hired full time as a Maintenance employee.

He said “ I did not want to let you down & I want to do something with my life”.

To all the critics of violence prevention programs please give us time to work. We can make a difference but we need the entire community to assist.

Thanks to the D.O.E.S. Project Empowerment Director ,Charles Jones, the Father Factor director Dr. Kevin Fields, and ONSE program director, Del McFadden for collaborating to help this young man overcome the obstacles in his life.
