Yesterday I caught up with Dog’s Trust where we spoke about the great work that they do to advance dog welfare and the support that Dogs Trust provides dogs and their owners in Blaenau Gwent Caerffili Rhymni.

Head over to @dogstrust to get involved in your local centre.

A day well spent with Dogs Trust 🐶💛

A few of the Spindogs team recently volunteered with Dogs Trust, where Tabitha and Sophie gave us a brilliant introduction to the charity’s history, dog body language, fostering, adoption and how their work is funded.

We also got to meet some of the dogs looking for their forever homes, including Zola, Cam, Ben & Jerry, Crystal and her pup Aslan, which made resisting the urge to take them all home incredibly difficult. Since our visit, all of these gorgeous angels have found their new home!

The day clearly made an impression too, with Tina coming away eager to sign up for the fostering scheme. What a hero!

A huge thank you to Tabitha and Sophie for making us feel so welcome and for giving us such an insightful look at the wonderful work the Dogs Trust does.

If you’d like to get involved too, there are plenty of ways to support Dogs Trust, from volunteering and fostering to fundraising, donating or joining one of their upcoming events. Every bit of support helps them continue caring for dogs and finding them loving homes.

Find out more about how you can help on the Dogs Trust website.

A few words from the team:

“I had the best day! It was such a lovely experience and I learnt so much, particularly about the different signs to look out for in a dog’s behaviour, such as when they might be feeling anxious or need a little more space.

I also loved seeing the facilities and hearing more about the incredible work they do there. It was a really enjoyable and eye-opening day.” - Amanda

“Going behind the scenes really provided a great insight into all the wonderful & hard work the staff at Dogs Trust do, you can see how well all the dogs are cared for, and treated like their own pets. It’s a lovely facility, I especially liked the outdoor walk area. I would recommend anyone to go and have a look.” - Tina

“I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Dogs Trust. Their centre is state of the art and was so impressive. They treat every dog as an individual with their own needs and wants and that comes across in the treatment of the dogs there. Dogs Trust does so much more than I knew and I walked away having learnt so much.“ - Joe

I do occasionally use lenses other than my favourite Canon 50mm 1.4! Canon’s wide angle EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM is another great lens. I love using it for nature and pet photography, getting up-close and fully wide at 16mm to create some interesting compositions. The focus with the lens is also very good. Here is Cosmo, the Red Lab exploring some cut down trees in fields in Tyttenhanger in St Albans.
