The Abisola [ @abi_kd ]I knew was a depiction of a life poured out in full.

If love and commitment had hands, they would look a lot like Abisola’s. She had an unshakable commitment to life, to things, and to those she loved. If you were family, you were covered. If you were a friend, you were cherished. If she called you hers, you never had to wonder where you stood. Her love for her husband, kids, and siblings was beyond normal, it is fierce. It was this very essence of hers that made me feel like family, not just a staff, while I documented her dad.

Abisola knew how to carry the weight of others’ happiness on her shoulders, and somehow, even when she had a hundred things to juggle, she made you feel like you were the only one that mattered. And oh, she didn’t do halfway. She inserts herself fully, plans meticulously, and gave selflessly to whatever the thing was. Whether it was picking the perfect ring for her sister’s engagement, orchestrating the kind of wedding that felt like a dream, or turning a simple sleepover into a magical experience for the kids [hers and others’], she had this matchless drive to insert the memorable into moments.

She listened.
She remembered.
She showed up to cheer you on, even if all you shared with her was a whisper of your dreams.

She was her father’s daughter through and through. She loved him like air, and the similarities in their persona, work ethic, and attention to detail were too striking to miss.

She loved flowers, and even now in passing, Abisola leaves a bouquet of lessons: love loudly, give wholeheartedly, and never hold back when it comes to the people who matter to you, and even everyday strangers.

She lived like a firework, bright and unforgettable, illuminating every life she came across.

Rest in Heaven, Abisola. Your story doesn’t end here, it will live on in all of us, because you poured it all out.

Some memories I created of her from 2014-2024. #AKDForever
