FREEDOM FLY — SIWEI / DOMINIC

What if jazz isn’t simply a genre, but a language?

For Siwei, jazz is deeply rooted in the way she writes and expresses musical ideas — not as a boundary, but as a foundation. Her work moves beyond the conventions of jazz, bringing together songwriting, poetry and personal expression while remaining grounded in the freedom of improvisation.

Together with Dominic, FREEDOM FLY explores the space between the written and the spontaneous — where composition gives way to conversation, and music is allowed to unfold in the moment.

A different expression of contemporary jazz.

PICKETT in Naarm/Melbourne is a few weeks away!
We’re excited to announce our six brilliant performers: Aditya Ryan Bhat, Dominic Nguyen, Sophie Marcheff, Terence Liu, Kim Tan and Alexander Meagher.
Though all have interests in performing new music, their skills span across early music, jazz, and improvisation, with past collaborators including Speak Percussion, ELISION Ensemble, Forest Collective, and Victorian Opera. We're thrilled to have them come together to present new chamber music by Australian composers!
