#Repost Comtes Lafon
・・・
The harvest is already behind us.

For the past few weeks, the work has moved from the vineyards into the cellar. The grapes we picked have given way to the first wines and fermentations, now developing at their own pace.

The 2026 vintage is slowly taking shape, with regular tastings, close observation and the patience needed to guide each cuvée through its evolution.

The harvest may be over, but another part of the work is just beginning.

Really good Friday with great company and seriously good bottles on the table @more.cotedor @dobelsteen @esbengade 🍷🥂🙏

My highlights:

Dhondt Grellet ‘Le Bateau’ 2012 was crazy good. Slightly oxidative and vinous with tons of freshness and energy. Michel Fallon ‘Ozanne’ 2020 was broader, rounder and more openly oxidative, with ripe yellow fruit, nuttiness and a slightly salty finish. Two really good Champagnes 🥂🔥.

Mugnier ‘Les Amoureuses’ 2020 was simply a beautiful wine. Clearly young with deep perfume and weightlessness, but also a huge structure underneath with so much room to grow into. Would love to revisit in 10 to 15 years 🙏

Cappellano ‘Rupestris’ 2011 felt right on peak. Earthy and loads of complexity with red fruit, balsamic and spices. Just really nice 🤩Had Bartolo 2011 recently too, so 2011 seems to be in a very good place right now.

Groffier ‘Les Sentiers’ 2016 and Bruno Clair ‘Bonnes Mares’ 2016 both showed beautifully. Sentiers had broad, concentrated fruit with freshness and earthy spice, while Bonnes Mares was deeper and more structured with plenty still ahead of it 🍷

Lafon ‘Porusots’ 2017 and Burlotto ‘Castelletto’ 2018 were both pretty much where expected and showed really well. With the Burlotto, I was gradually drawn towards it once that distinct blackcurrant note started to show.

Until the next bottle 🥂

2023 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières

Youthful, but already incredibly generous. The acidity is piercing and energetic, backed by seriously impressive fruit concentration. Orange peel, mandarin, pineapple, and pear lead the way, with beautifully integrated oak, vanilla, and just a restrained touch of butter.

There’s some of that classic Meursault richness and fat, but never enough to feel heavy or intrusive. Underneath, a strong mineral and saline core keeps everything fresh and precise, while just the right amount of gripping bitterness adds structure to the long finish.

Clean, concentrated, and remarkably complete for such a young wine. Everything seems to be working together already, yet there’s clearly plenty more to come with age. Firing on all cylinders.
