HOW CAN FOOD GROWERS BEST ADAPT TO A HEATING CLIMATE? 🔆⛈️

What can we learn from each others experiences?

What's happening? What's needed?

What grows well, what doesn't?

How can we harvest more water whilst watering less?

How can we increase biodiversity and support pollinators?

How can all of us be part of Derby's sustainable food revolution to address food insecurity across the city?

What are the REALLY inspiring questions we want to ask each other?

SAVE THE HARVEST! ✊🌱🍆🥔🍅🫛

(Big thanks to Dom Ashton for visiting Plot 1 at Little Chester Allotments to take these awesome pics)

@domashton_ with my last post. Some recent images that don’t quite fit.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my work over the last few days, thank you to Map6 for the opportunity and everyone for looking and reading. 🖤

@domashton_ again. Today I’m posting some images from a WIP that I’m calling Common Soil. A little less abstract than some of my other work, I’m thinking about the idea of human connection to the land, nature, and our history through small scale agriculture. I should probably include some portraits…

@domashton_ here again with some images from another little project I worked on last autumn which I’ve called Mast Year. I spent a lot of time crouching. I might make this into a little zine or handmade book at some point.

Hello, @domashton_ here on the first day of my Map6 takeover.

I’ve been playing around with several groups of images recently so I’m going to try to use the next few days here to pull some things together and show a few initial images/ideas, it would be nice to have some feedback.

These first pictures/scans are from a project that’s called ‘Electric Fence’ at the moment. It’s inspired by ideas around the nature of time and how we as humans experience it in quite a subjective sense - which is on a different scale from that of non-human animals, plants, and substances/processes that make up our world.

ARTIST FEATURE : @domashton_ Dom Ashton 🌿 he gives us a view into his approach to taking photographs:

Dom:
My process aims to evoke and explore environmental and existential themes such as humanity’s place within, and impact upon, nature, as well as our relationship to time, transience, and phenomenology. These images are part of a new project in its early stages based around an orchards and community allotments around my home in Derbyshire. Through the project I hope to convey ideas around our loss of connection to nature and how this can perhaps be regained and cultivated through participation in the ancient rituals of tending to the land, and acknowledgement of our relationships with the natural cycles that surround us. 🍎⚪️⚫️
