🏛️ A LEGACY CAST IN BRONZE — BEECHIE O. BROOKS

Milwaukee history was honored in Halyard Park as the community gathered for the unveiling of a statue recognizing Beechie O. Brooks, the visionary Black real estate developer who helped build the neighborhood and create new opportunities for Black families to become homeowners.

What started as a vision in 1976 became a neighborhood, a community and now a legacy that will stand for generations.

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson @cavalierformilwaukee joined the community for this historic moment as family, residents and supporters celebrated a man whose work helped shape an important piece of Milwaukee’s Black history.

This is bigger than a statue — it is a reminder that the people who BUILD our communities deserve to have their names, stories and contributions remembered.

Beechie O. Brooks — Built for the people. Remembered by the people.
