Yesterday more than 100 people reunited to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the IKA Torino.

An extraordinary event organized by @dommylee in partnership with Pininfarina (@pininfarina_official), Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile (@museoautomobile), Horacio Pagani and Alfredo Stola (@studiotorino) with a rich and well thought-out program.

Starting the day with a visit to the Pininfarina Museum and a dedicated presentation about the IKA Torino and the company’s impact on the project. After the nice conversation panel given by Alfredo Stola and Horacio Pagani, a group picture was taken at the carrozziere’s HQ before heading for a short drive towards the restaurant for lunch. Right after this convivial moment, the participants had the chance to visit the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile with a special guide (that spoke Spanish too!) and ended the day with rather a sweet touch - some alfajores brought by @dulcedelechemardel 😋

This event wouldn’t have been the same without the participation of the owners of the IKA Torino in Europe, who drove quite some kilometers just for this occasion - thank you guys!

See you for the 70th anniversary, I guess?

Formado en IED Istituto Europeo di Design en Turín, representa una nueva generación de diseñadores con visión internacional y enfoque multidisciplinar: ha trabajado en el diseño exterior para marcas emergentes en Erre Company (movilidad eléctrica y urbana), enseña en el IED explorando inteligencia artificial aplicada al proceso creativo, y analiza tendencias de diseño como periodista en Motor1 Argentina. Además, ha sido el diseñador responsable del trofeo de los Premios Auto&Design, un proyecto que sintetiza su dominio técnico y su sensibilidad conceptual.

La Dino de Ricardo...!!
Ferrari Dino 196 S - 1959 Chassis n° 0776S
This # 0776 was the first of the V6 Dino series to appear in competition, when it was entered by NART and driven by Ricardo Rodriguez in the Bahamas in December 1959, recording a 2nd, 4th and a DNS in the three races entered.
As a result of rule changes for 1960 the screen height was raised on the car and for the Sebring 12 hs in March '60 Pedro and Ricardo shared the car but was DNF.
Next the car appeared at the '60 Targa Florio alongside both its two sister cars. This race was to provide these Dino sports racing models with their greatest success in a major international event, where despite some contact with the scenery, Phil Hill/ Wolfgang von Trips finished 2nd overall in # 0784, Scarfiotti/Mairesse/Cabianca bringing chassis # 0778 home 4th, and the NART entered chassis # 0776, driven by Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez finished 7th, despite having had frequent contact with immovable objects and being rolled. Just 2 weeks after the Targa Florio #0776 was already repaired and back on track, again being piloted by the Rodriguez brothers at the Nurburgring 1000 km.
For the '61 Season NART retained the car and it was driven in two events by Helborn, Fulp and Hudson. The car won its class at the Sebring 12 hours. The car also competed in the Canadian GP at Mosport where it placed 2nd. in class.
In '66, #0776 was purchased by Rob Walker, one of the best known privateer F1 team owners, was restored and fitted with body coloured headlamp covers and was road registered with Rob Walker's registration, “RRW 1”, which it retains to this day. He kept the car for 12 years and was well known for using the car on the road. In later years the ownership of this highly important car took famous names including Count Giovanni Lurani, Luchini, Manolas, Perfetti, Cowdray and Bamford to name but a few.

La treposti del Avvocato..!!
Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale Pininfarina “guida centrale” or “treposti” chassis 8815 from 1966
Absolutely stunning design for Pininfarina by Aldo Brovarone under a special request from the Avvocato when, after a huge accident in the moyenne corniche, broken and stiff his left leg and request a special car with more room to accommodate. Was built over a 365P2 race car chassis with civilized 4.4 liter V12 Competition engine and a special Porsche gearbox with semi-automatic clutch.
The Brovarone exterior design lent many traits from the Dino prototype which were shown in 1965. Because of its numerous similaries, and hefty engine, the 365P Speciale can be seen as one of the father cars to the 206/246 production cars.
