The final pick from @don.mcrae for his Desert Island Fights features James Toney, a fighter close to his heart and integral to his first #boxing book, Dark Trade. Toney's win against Tim Littles in March 94 was the ultimate victory from the jaws of defeat.

Marvin Hagler vs Tommy Hearns is widely regarded as one of the greatest fights in history; certainly one of the greatest short fights in history. It was also the fourth choice from @don.mcrae for his Desert Island Fights. Did the 80s get any better than this?

It was great to meet and photograph @chancam91 for @guardian_sport last week.

The article by @don.mcrae was published in yesterday's @guardian and online.

Good luck to her in her forthcoming boxing word title fight in Birmingham.

The Rumble in the Jungle - Ali vs Foreman - from October 30, 1974, is the second pick from @don.mcrae for his Desert Island Fights.
Surely Ali couldn't beat the man who had destroyed both Joe Frazier and Ken Norton?

The first choice from @don.mcrae for his Desert Island Fights is the historic rematch between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling from June 1938. Louis wanted personal revenge, but the bout took on much greater significance as the world headed towards another war.

📌 There’s something extra special about starting a book that has been signed by its author.

My next read… 📖🥊

Thank you so much, @don.mcrae , for your kindness in gifting me a signed copy of In Sunshine or in Shadow. It was such a thoughtful gesture.

As someone who loves boxing and the stories behind the sport, I know this is going to be a fascinating and inspiring read. Looking forward to learning more about the powerful role boxing played in bringing hope during some of Northern Ireland’s darkest times.

Thank you again for your generosity,

I’m really looking forward to reading it and can’t wait to dive in. 📚🥊
