One decision can change someone’s life

While year six is not a monumental “milestone” in the passing of a loved one, year six was a big one for me.

I recently saw a video that said, “The best thing that you could ever do for a parent who has passed is live a life beyond your wildest dreams.” This year has taught me that there is no truer statement.

This year, I decided to graduate college early and move across the country to a city where I knew no one, and totally start over. It has been the biggest blessing and learning experience of my life. I have learned how to make new friends, excel in the workforce, live alone, and be a good friend, sister, and daughter - even 1,000s of miles away from home.

In Nashville, no one hears my last name and says, “I knew your dad. He was a great man.” However, I’ve met people who I know will walk beside me for years to come, and I only wish they could have known you, too.

This year has been full of change, growth, and quiet moments to reflect. To remember you. To tell my new friends about you. You really have the best seat in this new chapter, and I will always have the best guardian angel.

Time may not heal every wound, but it has taught me how to carry the grief with more peace and gratitude than pain.

Year six was special.

Love always, Kinz.
