The Stonewall Inn is one of many bars feeling the business impact of America’s reduction in alcohol consumption.

It's always been lovely that New York City throws a 75,000-person march for my birthday weekend with millions of spectators, but especially nice this year that they asked me to lead it ;) No, this was the Pride March, in honor and remembrance of the 1969 Stonewall uprising and a defiant call for continued action. The two-mile route goes down Fifth Ave, crosses through Christopher Street where we passed the rainbow flag that still stands at the Stonewall National Monument after the community defeated the Trump Administration in court, and heads back up Seventh Ave, encircling my neighborhood and filling the streets with millions of joyful supporters. Gays Against Guns was selected this year as one of the Grand Marshals and though it made for an early morning, it was incredible and truly a once-in-a-lifetime moment to be up front, lead our community, and raise awareness about the disproportionate impact of guns on the LGBTQ community. My voice is hoarse but my heart is full.

These last weeks have been very challenging for me, and I truly appreciate all the support as I walk the slow road of grief, and the well wishes for my 43rd trip around the sun. It was good for me to have a reason to get out of the house and into the sun, among friends and allies, keeping up the good fight. A huge thanks to our organizers - pulling this off took so much work, and I'm so proud of them and so honored I got to walk alongside them to mark our tenth year in this fight.

Give us a follow at @gaysagainstgunsny. The 2026 March is over but we've just begun.

Pride 2026 was perhaps the most meaningful parade ever for me. It was an honor to march with @gaysagainstgunsny as a Human Being. Thank you Gays AgainstGuns, @cmarothom, @kenkidd @jaywwalker, @donnaaceto and all of the volunteers! #pridenyc #gaysagainstguns #pride🌈 #pulseorlando
