When you’re with your sister at the R and B tour, and Usher says puts your hands in the air and she asks me, “Why do we have our hands in the air?”

You look at her underneath your ATL hat and say the obvious ~~”Cause Usher said so!”

And as every hand is up in the air, they break down into this song as the crowd lowers their arms and up again with a swagger!

This day never gets any easier for me. The day I lost half of my heart. As God called this Beautiful Angel Home, I lost my Angel and home.

I still speak your name and tell of our wild, crazy adventures because I don’t want your memory to be forgotten or what an amazing woman you were. Your love of words, music, and song will live forever in me. I’ll meet you again in Heaven where the music meets the sea.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I held your hand. There are so many things about you I miss. You’ll always be my best friend, rock, fellow groupie, my Rock Star Super Star, and my inspiration.

To the strongest lady I have ever known, I hope to have at least half the strength, faith and grace you carried off so easily. You’ll forever be my hero, and I can’t wait to hug your again.

I love you more than songs can say, Mommy!

Happy Heavenly Father’s Day to the Best Man i have ever known! My Daddy was the strongest yet sweetest man ever! I couldn’t have asked for a better dad.

Besides being the only one to inherit his big brown eyes, my Daddy taught me to always love the Lord, treat everyone with kindness, and to give my all in anything I set my mind to. He taught by example in living a strong, devoted Christian life. I’m so blessed that God gave him to be my dad, and I sure do miss him.

We loved sitting on our back deck, listening to music and having a snack, and he always loved going on our many adventures! He was always ready to hit the road. You’ll always be my hero, and I’ll always be your Baby Girl! I love you more than songs can say! Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Daddy!

I got lucky at the at the St. Patrick’s Day! I gathered up enough ingredients for a delicious Irish! Just don’t ask how o caught all of that but rest assured there was no illegal activity…besides a sister acting just a little embarrassed but it was too funny.

She was laid over the barricade because she was laughing so hard! I may be looking for a foster home to adopt me soon!

It’s a very good thing that we don’t take our selves too seriously and are able to laugh at all out shenanigans! If you don’t live that way, you will miss all the fun. Needless to say, we are not easily embarrassed and that makes for a lot of wild, fun, and crazy times!

It is pretty obvious that D’Lo is enjoying the retirement lifestyle!

In this week leading up to Valentine’s Day, the air is filled with love, and everyone is thinking of Valentines, candy, and finding the perfect gift for the one that they love.

So, i want to tell you a story of true love. It’s not about flashy diamonds or dozens of roses, but it is real. Here is my story time for the day, and it involves this picture and those precious people in it.

While i was in college, i was taking a photography class, and our assignment was to photograph people. (This was in the prehistoric days before digital cameras. We had to develop the film and pictures by hand.)

That will always be my favorite picture! I had my family who became the models for my portfolio outside, and i was just taking random, natural photos.

My dad had just got home from work, and I said that I wanted to take a picture of him and my mom together. Which they rarely did. My Daddy who was always more quiet and reserved hugged up to my mom, and you can see her beautiful smile. It was a real life moment. A moment of true love.

Then the real work came in. I had to develop my film, put the negatives in the enlarger in the darkroom, and put it in the different pans to develop the photo, maybe taking a few with different little tweaks to try to get the best picture .

I put my heart, sweat, and maybe a little blood (but that’s a story for another day, lol) into that picture and it makes it even more special because it shows my heart—my mommy and daddy and the true love they shared for over 60 years .

That is true love, captured in a simple but beautiful moment. That will always be my favorite picture of them. My favorite picture i have ever taken. ❤️❤️
