Celebrating a very special upcoming 50th birthday in style at @theappletreeteahouse Ockbrook 🥂🍎

The perfect morning started with a fiery ginger shot, followed by a glass of prosecco, unlimited tea and coffee, flaky pastries, deliciously creamy homemade granola with Greek yogurt… and that was all before the main event! 😍

For breakfast, we enjoyed The Apple Tree Breakfast and halloumi, avocado & perfectly poached eggs on toast - absolutely delicious from start to finish. 😋

I absolutely love The Apple Tree and visit regularly, so my expectations are always high, but today definitely lived up to them.

Great food, great company, and the perfect way to celebrate a wonderful friend’s milestone birthday. ❤️🎉

Today I stepped a little outside my comfort zone at the Flourish & Nourish Feel Good Brunch hosted by the inspiring Alice ✨

When I was invited along, I’ll be honest - I was quite sceptical. Group activities aren’t usually my thing, and from past experiences I’ve sometimes left similar events feeling a bit on the outside rather than uplifted. But I really needn’t have worried. From the moment I arrived, Alice and the group couldn’t have been more welcoming, warm and genuinely inclusive.

It was such a lovely mix of ages and life stages, and Alice covered everything - especially the topics I’m most interested in, including food, energy, and menopause. Nothing felt overwhelming or preachy, just real, practical advice that actually fits into everyday life.

I’ve come away with so much valuable information on how to tweak my diet to better fuel my body, and I genuinely feel like I’ve made a new friend - someone who’s there to guide and support if I ever need direction 💛

And then there was the brunch… honestly perfection. Building our own “feel good” bowls with creamy Greek yoghurt, bright fresh fruit, crunchy granola and peanut butter, alongside bagels piled high with smoked salmon, avocado, rocket and dill. Such a nourishing, delicious way to spend a Saturday morning.

A very festive day out at the Christmas Derby Market Hall 🎅🏼🎄

No falling flat on my ass at the ice rink (a Christmas miracle), Christmas shopping, and very happy doggos after a stop at @dawkins_pet_supplies 🐾🎁

Food-wise we were absolutely spoiled:

🍚 a delicious made-while-you-wait rice bowl from @shioderby
☕️ hot chocolate & a Kinder Bueno affogato from @nicosgelato (obsessed)
🍮 and pudding to finish from @potfulofcrumble — mixed fruits & custard plus the Christmas special mince pie crumble

Festive vibes, full bellies, and zero bruises. I’ll call that a win ✨🎄

✨ Giggling Squid – Leicester ✨

Thai food with personality, and oh wow did it deliver!

We went all in on sharers (because Thai food is made for sharing, right?):

🍤 Prawn crackers
🦑 Fisherman’s Feast (NEW!) – Soft shell crab, crispy squid bits, salt & pepper squid, papaya salad with zesty Thai herb & sriracha dips

For mains, we couldn’t resist:

🥩 Thai Melting Beef - tender, slow-cooked, melt-in-your-mouth beef in a rich red curry sauce.
🦆 Red Duck Rising Star - duck with red curry, star fruit, pineapple + pea aubergines

sticky rice & roti for the perfect scoop + dip combo.

Cocktails 🍸

We sipped on a Mojito, Lady in Pink, and Thai Saba

Big portions, bold flavours, exotic ingredients… this place nails it. The menu is HUGE from classics like pad thai & massaman curry to unique specialties you won’t find elsewhere. Add in fab service, cosy booths & gorgeous décor, and you’ve got a winner.

We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit.

A Fabulous Evening at Passan’s Nottingham ✨

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the VIP launch of @passans_ , located on the first floor above Bombay Delicatessen at 22-26 Carrington Street. The doors opened to reveal a gorgeous space that mixes elegant charm with bold Indian character.

Guests were treated to a showcase of Passan’s ‘jaldi jaldi’ express menu, featuring delicious Indian tapas. We also got to sample their High Chai - an Indian-inspired take on afternoon tea, served Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm. Think street food-style bites and sweet treats with a modern twist.

Menu highlights included:

🍽️ Bang-Bang Chilli Cauliflower
🍽️ Spiced Chilli Wedges
🍽️ Chicken & Sesame Strips
🍽️ Cured Salmon
🍽️ Palak Patta Chaat

The tapas was perfectly paired with refreshing cocktails - a creamy Mango Lassi and a refreshing Milk Punch.

With luxurious décor, an inspired menu, and a truly stunning setting, Passan’s is set to become Nottingham’s next go-to spot for after-work drinks, casual bites, or a daytime treat.

Passan’s is now open – and absolutely worth a visit. 🌟

Been in Spain for 5 days.. wearing masks in public areas. Have to say you do get used to wearing them. Think UK will eventually follow suit... If it helps to reduce the risks of COVID.. you must wear them...
