my very first jazzfest performance was such an experience. i won't soon forget these moments! i'll commentate each slide —
slide 1: um, so let's say i was watching @jonbatiste's 9 o'clock between vocalizing. 👀 so if this singing thing don't work out, maybe security? LOL.
slide 2: just me being cute with my bow. 🥰
slide 3-4: we started with prayer lead by @jemelmcwilliams, as this was truly a spiritual practice/experience. 🙏🏼
slide 5: why did i have to do sooo much though?! just EXTRA for no reason. 😒
slide 6: gone lift my hands in praise every time! ha?! 🙌🏼
slide 7-9: baby i was up there having a damn BLAST! dyhm?! 💃🏽
slide 10: preach jon! and all i need is one mic! 😂
slide 11-12: ending the show by 2nd lining through the crowd was AMAZING. i've never felt so much love & appreciation all at once. 🤩🥹
slide 13: @deszmusicofficial learning the words to 'getcha sum' 😂; she lead us vocalists all week, was a joy to work with and looked & sounded divine during the performance! 🫶🏼
slide 14: new orleans cultural traditions on full display. beautiful to witness.
slide 15: we snuck a lil pitcha with jon after the show, just as they were whisking him away. such a talented & loving human being.
slide 16: i have to give a HUGE shoutout to my sis @sondriahn for considering & including me in the call to action for this whole show. love you so much girl, and thank you again! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

It was such an honor to be with the Dillard University Concert Choir, Dr. S. Carver Davenport and the 8th President of the University, Dr. Rochelle Ford. It was an amazing honor to help celebrate the 86th annual holiday concert, in song. The night was truly beautiful 🎶 🎶✨✨.

You’ve been here 374 moon orbits, 28 sun orbits, 10,227 days, 336 months, 1,461 weeks, 14,726,880 minutes, and counting!
I am so grateful that God brought you to Earth on this day. The world immediately grew funnier, smarter, wittier, and more bearable. You light up every room you walk into. You lift countless spirits and make everyone smile. Today, let us all put a smile on your face.

You’ve been one of my greatest teachers as we tackle life. I’ve watched you grow and evolve, even when it hurt or when you didn’t think it was possible. You’ve taught me so much about faith, trust, forgiveness, and love. Thank you for not quitting on life when things got hard. Thank you for being my prayer partner and purpose partner. Thank you for supporting me through grief. Thank you for doing life with me, even on days when neither of us wants to get out of bed. Thank you for choosing to be the best version of yourself, for choosing Christ, and for choosing me.

You make me laugh, you ground me, you challenge me, and you love me in ways that feel intentional and real.

I’m so grateful to walk this life with you. To grow with you. To learn you deeper every year. Thank you for being my partner, my protector, my peace, and my home.

Cheers to another year of purpose, growth, laughter, love, and favor. I’m proud of the man you are and the man you’re becoming. Happy Birthday, my love. I’ll love you always, in all ways. 💖✨✨ ♾️🥂 @dontedamon

Last week I had the pleasure of singing along side some amazing voices, as we backed @ladygaga during a tribute before Super Bowl 59!! 6 degrees of separation, you’re always closer than you think 😉. S/o to @cellabella86 for the call!!

This Jazz Fest season, I had the honor of singing behind THEE Jon Batiste!! I’m incredibly grateful for the call to sing in the choir and to bring some heavy hitters with me, @jdubmusic504 ! We were locked into an intense week of recording and rehearsals. Huge thanks to @deszmusicofficial for teaching, encouraging, and pushing us to our full potential!

The level of pure, genuine Black talent in every room was so rich. The gems that were shared are truly priceless, and this was an experience I’ll never forget. Most of us were hoarse and sleep-deprived, but you couldn’t wipe those smiles off our proud faces! @jonbatiste , thank you for everything! God, thank You. This was the perfect way to kick off my Jazz Fest season.

With my mentor retiring and us preparing to celebrate him soon, it meant so much to sing with my alma mater. It’s always a pleasure to give back even a piece of what he’s poured into me. This was definitely a day to remember! 🥹🫶🏽🎺💕🌻 ✨✨
