The happiest place on Earth ngl
-
I can’t think of many things better than seeing all the friends I’ve made over the years all in one place at the same time. Teams from Colorado, New York, Tennessee, British Columbia, Ho Chi Minh City, so on. And right up there with old friends is new friends! I was so happy getting to meet teams from Switzerland, Türkiye, Taiwan, New Zealand, the American Samoa, and plenty of others. Thanks to the students and parents who taught me how to say town/municipality names like Muskogee and Chesieres!

Thank you to the students and parents for everything really. Sure, there’s a competition to be had. But most of what we walk away with is the energy, the cheering, the smiles, and the handshakes. Cowbells and kraken hats gave our division that heartbeat, and the mutual respect of competitors seals the deal.

Thanks to everyone who said hi! To everyone who asked for a picture! As well as the teams who gave me high fives! And an extended thanks to @vexrobotics and the @recfoundation for bringing me out again.
-
And congratulations to all the graduating seniors! I was totally choking up during the senior photo. I hope this robotics thing was more than you expected.

To put simply, I had fun. And I thank every single person there for making all this what it is. It’s just aluminum and plastic without the people.

Thank you

I thought of creative caption delivering a powerful moment. But as I put the photos together and added the song, all I could do was sniffle and cry.

946 is done. Something that I couldn’t fathom the end of. For as much time as it took to pick the perfect number that didn’t mean anything at the time, it evaporated in an instant. And as much as it feels like something was taken from me, 946 ran its course. Five years… Far more than any single person could have imagined.
-
We became important. And after all the years of effort, the nights spent agonizing over why I continue to do robotics, you find yourself with a crowd of friends cheering you on to win your first championship. And years after that, people still flip their phone over to show you 9:46 on their clock. They thought of you. Somehow, some way, you were important. And isn’t that all we ever want?
-
It was never supposed to end. You always know the teams will age out but you never expect the number to go away. But we’re not needed anymore. 946, ultimately, was founded to support a small group of students who needed more than what our schools could give us. We helped more and more… but the times changed. The schools got funded, the educational programs were better supported, and I am so grateful for that. I’m so grateful that a continuously improving education is available and accessible for every student. And while you realize that your help is not needed anymore, you also realize how vital it was that you did anything at all.
-
And through all the common talk of education, I can only hope that we helped countless other students. Bringing our joy, positivity, enthusiasm… it wasn’t for us. It was never for us. It was always for you. All we wanted was to make sure you all enjoyed yourselves and had true, true, fun. All we wanted was for every student, parent and coach to know that they were valued. And it was simply a nice bonus that we felt important through any of it.
-
Thanks for letting us be part of your world. I hope we were important to you.

After 2 years of coming so close, Rock Lobsters are finally state champions and going to worlds for the first time!
-
Thank you so much @2654p_pronouncethis for picking us in alliance selection, we weren’t having a good day and thought the season was over.
-
It wouldn’t be the same without @2662u_unknownerror and @tyler_pennock in finals, shouting across the field and messing around between matches, we go a long way back with both of these teams and we’re glad it all ended with them.

Special thanks to @1826zbecca, 80550X, 80550Y, 80550W, 3946A, 3946S, 1069F and 1069E for being some of our closest and most awesome supporters through the three years of 946.
