Chicago Release Show!

In August we announced the 𝐃𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 and 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐱𝐭 Limited Edition split 7” and now we’re ready to celebrate the release in person.

Come out to @pilsencommunitybooks on Friday 10/30 at 7pm for an evening with both bands.

This 7” is only available directly through Solid Brass, at shows, and at a few select Chicago stores (ahem, @pinwheelrecords perhaps) so come out, grab a copy, and support great music.

We’re excited to welcome 𝘁𝘄𝗼 great Chicago artists to Solid Brass. What better way to welcome both bands than with a Limited Edition 7” appetizer to give you a taste of each.

𝗗𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 (@doomflowerband) is the musical project of Chicago-based singer and multi-instrumentalist Jess Price. With band members Matt Lemke (Wedding Dress), Pete Croke (Brokeback, Exit Verse), and Areif Sless-Kitain (Brokeback, Regulator Watts, The Eternals) they blend atmospheric guitars with minimalist and occasional trip-hop-influenced beats reminiscent of Cat Power, Mazzy Star, and Portishead.

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁 (@masstextusa) is the moniker of Chris Sutter (singer/guitarist of Chicago post punk trio, Meat Wave). Mass Text is a sonic departure from his past band; rich with menacing melodies drenched in reverb. With help from friend and producer Jason Balla (DEHD, Accessory), Mass Text carves out its own lane appealing to fans of Galaxie 500, Destroyer, and Atlas Sound.

“Never Gonna Leave” b/w “Lodge” is available to stream on Bandcamp and the 45 is 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴. Pressed on black vinyl with a matte finish jacket and a lyric insert, all designed by Chris.

Long gone are the days of getting 7”s for $3, but $8 is a bargain in 2026!

More news from both bands coming soon. 👀

@doomflowerband opening for @thegoodlifegang on October 8, 2023. This was an amazing night. I met Bobby of Doom Flower. I have been a fan of him and his projects for decades. He introduced me to the band and we got to have a good hang before the show. The Good Life played ‘Album of the Year’ all the way through and then basically another set. Great night. #doomflower #doomflowerband #thegoodlife

that’s a wrap, US! Thank you to my top tier rotating band for making it feel so awesome for me. It’s been a strange journey with touring, and at times I forgot my history at all because I was having such a beautiful time playing music!

A special special thank you to @heemsworth who swooped in about a month before tour and worked so hard to help me with some of these arrangements. Your attentiveness and care created such a pillar of support in all of this. Also….. you are so good at all of it.

To @doomflowerband for being the best friend and tm I could have asked for. Such a big ask to have someone I admire so much musically, to take on the task. I’ve never felt more safe with someone else driving too lol.

To @debtalan , @noralstanley , @landladyband , @abbygundersen , @arthimeera ! I loved playing with you more than my plain words can express. Each of you added your own light to my music. And to @johnmcbae for rocks, creek knowledge and for sculpting the many layers of sound.

And of course to @brendan.eder for opening all of those shows! You always set the tone for the night with your warm and elegant music 🎶

Ok, time for some rest! See you in September, Europe!

Seriously basically a family reunion here at Bottle this week. So many nice and cool people that we are honored to call our friends, you might call them your friends too, or maybe you soon will. This week is full of possibilities. Besties Doom Flower, Purelink, Strapped and Myopic all hanging out. Our new friends that we have been dying to see Agriculture. Our friend Eshanthika partying for a good cause. Showing the best show on TV Traitors and also “the big game”. In short, let’s fucking go.
