Stay save, dear friend @kovtun_olga_art !

Exploring Eauze

Eauze, in the French department of Gers (Occitanie region), belongs to the arrondissement of Condom. It is the unofficial capital of the distilled alcoholic drink Armagnac. Viticulture is also important in and around the municipality.

The origins of Eauze begin in the ancient Roman city of Elusa, which was founded in the first century. The city was built in a checkerboard pattern over forty hectares and had a forum and thermal baths, with large agricultural enterprises in the area. In the third century, Elusa became the capital of the Roman province of Novempopulania.

A monastery was built above the old town in 980. Eauze grew and the church of Saint-Luperc was built between 1463 and 1521.

In the historic center of Eauze you will find beautiful old streets with nice shops, many restaurants and terraces. Eauze is known for its tasty food and regional specialties. Café de France is widely known (pic 5)

Exploring Fources

In Fourcès, the Gers region tells its story in a circle. Classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France this unique village surprises visitors upon arrival with its special shape and peaceful atmosphere.

Fourcès, a former medieval fortress, grew up around a now-disappeared castle, which has made way for a large, round square in the shade of plane trees - the beating heart of the village.

Embraced by the Auzoue, a beautiful river full of fish that creates a green environment around the houses, the round bastide unfolds an almost theatrical scene. Around the square, the facades form a harmonious circle: medieval half-timbered houses with arcades, buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries, all testimonies of a still alive

This is one of the most beautiful bastides we ever saw!
