So last week we did a thing… it’s turned into another thing… and now some more things…
And that’s basically how it all happens

What a trip…

Take the first step
Get in the Van (like Henry Rollins did)
Get to the Gig
Do the thing
And ummm…
GO!

Pun intended ✊🏽

First #BlacKLab single out now on all platforms perfectly titled “Go”

Paul writes killer songs and has a beautiful voice
Tod crushes on Guitar and has incredible feel (13 guitars to be exact on this new album called Siren)

Thank you guys for the trust -

Met Paul about 2 hours before the gig and haven’t seen Tod in many (many) moons but we all had a memorable awesome Friday night with friends in Ojai

Like I said before…
What a trip

Thank You Bernie- love your magical spot @ojaiunderground
Thank you Wally @wpfister
One day soon #bernieman @dezdomestudio but that’s another story ✌🏽😎🎛️🎧👽🌵

This is a song from the last Mahadev EP called "The Reservoir is Dry, But The Rain Will Come" The last several years for live performances I've taken over the bass duties as well as of course playing guitar and singing, all at the same time. That's not even what's important about the song, but I think it's not a bad idea to recognize that I got skills.

This song is about remembering – actually choosing – to see the light when things are dark around us. And how that connects us to very ancient wisdom that is beyond us. It's so great to have other voices to join me on this.

There's still a few tickets available: https://ojaiundergroundexchangetickets.square.site/whirling-davish-and-mezecina

Excited to be playing this coming Saturday at Underground Exchange.

This was the first East/West hybrid song that I ever wrote, even before I went to India. It’s been very rare that I’ve been able to do it properly, as it does require a bunch of voices! Luckily the ladies of Mezečina have no problem with this kind of thing. Really excited to be collaborating with them.

Please come this Saturday. It will be a joyful time.

This is an early version of a song that came to me in a dream, one of two songs that came from dreams that we’re gonna be doing on June 27. This one holds the most weight, where I sometimes would just start sobbing when I would get to the end when I was still learning it, it felt so important and heavy.

Sometimes I tear up when I talk about the gift of this song I was given in my dream, how important it is to share it.

This song represents a lot of where I am right now. When I was younger, I was known for being a pretty prickly musician. Many of my songs were about my own suffering. The idea of something about a concept of unity would’ve seen pretty corny to me. The irony that this song came to ME in a dream is not lost on me.

This is a song about everyone coming together in the face of so much trouble in the world. In the dream, we would all be on teams, trying to kill each other, then someone would blow a whistle, and our teams would change, but we would still be fighting to the death. Kind of like our geopolitical situation in the world right now.

This a song that I cannot do by myself. It needs to have other voices. This is a song about how we cannot survive by ourselves, we all need each other.

Hopefully, like the song, we can be grooving while we’re doing it.

One of the things I’ve been incorporating into my guitar playing the last several years is the influence of the Kora, the long necked harp that is played in North Africa.

You can hear it clearly in the intro of this song.

June 27 at Ojai Underground Exchange we’ll be doing this and several other African influenced songs that we’ve put together.

The concert will also be streaming online if you want to watch, you can get tickets here:

As promised, here is the end of “Fill Your Cup” with help from @mezecina_la. We’ll be doing this song on January 27.

I’m really excited for this performance. There’s a lot of medicine in this music.

January 27, 7 PM Underground Exchange in Ojai. You can come in person or you can buy tickets to watch it anywhere online.

I’ll be performing Saturday June 27 as Whirling Davish at Underground Exchange here in Ojai.

This is going to be a special concert, we’ll be sharing the bill and playing with our friends Mezečina, this wonderful Balkan Singing group from LA that I had the opportunity to play with back in December.

This is my original song “Fill Your Cup” - check in later this week to hear Mezečina lending their wonderful voices on the end of the song. (I play bass & guitar at the same time if you didn’t know)

The concert will also be streaming online if you want to watch! You can get tickets for the concert here:
