26.2 miles and I honestly am still in shock. I am so proud of myself, my mental grit and my training throughout the easiest and hardest days. Grateful to my community to holding me down and loving me unconditionally.

Thankful to @peace_runners773 for trusting me with raising money for their incredible organization that welcomed me into their run club with open arms about a year ago.

Since moving back, navigating life has been tricky. Learning to only give energy to the things you can control and giving it up to God with the things you can’t.

Faith of a mustard seed.

My first marathon in my home city and it owes me nothing!!

I love you Chicago!🫶🏾

I am officially Dr. Essien! 🩵

There aren’t words that can describe what this means to me. It feels surreal to have been hooded as a physician while tears of both gratitude and heartbreak streamed down my face. I know my dad is smiling down on me from heaven. I have dreamed of becoming a doctor since I was only 3 years old and the many years of hard work and dedication have finally paid off.

Thank you thank you thank you!!

IT’S A MATCH!!
Feeling beyond blessed and lucky to have matched in my dream specialty of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Rutgers Newark Beth Israel!! I really could not have gotten to this point without my family and the countless mentors I’ve had along the way— so thank you ❤️❤️❤️
