Welcome to the Umu Igbo Unite Professional series! This month we aim to highlight professionals that have utilized our networking opportunities to enhance their professional and entrepreneurial careers. Today we are featuring Uchenna Ozuzu (@doseofchen)
_________________________________________________
“Last March, I attended the @UIUTristate event Perspectives in Healthcare: Policy, Technology, and Innovation. The panel was very informative as it was led by different healthcare professionals working in non traditional functions such as consulting, analytics, and technology.
This is where I met Rita Obi, founder of Building You Foundation (@thebyf_), a global non profit that’s preparing young women for the corporate world. Her presentation and resilience in her story is what attracted me to her, and I knew I needed make her one of my network resources. Funny enough Rita and I didn't become friends that very day. It was a groupchat with other young Igbo women all over America that led me back to her. In the groupchat there were daily social topics discussed as well as promoting self- made businesses. Rita was one of these people and she was offering her BYF online course. At the time it was a newly built platform offering her career mentoring services to anyone who needed it. I was one of the few ladies who are today the pioneers of BYF. She is a very determined and passionate individual who wants the best for her Naija sistas here in America.
I knew Ijeoma (@thattechmom) from church. Seeing her at the UIU Tristate Panel was nothing new. However, finding out she was one of the founders of BYF confirmed that my decision to joining BYF worth it and of course a closer relationship. Rita and Ijeoma are examples of #BlackGirlMagic, they are always here to help and elevate their Nigerian community which is amazing. I am glad the UIU Tristate panel opened the door for me to meet these women.” #UIU2018 #NOLA #weareUIU #Igbokwenu #Getyourticketsnow #2018datesalmostfull
