There was a meeting of the minds last Saturday @crazysmontana where we dined with deep thoughts by both Jack Handy and @dotanappel who laid down an historic, present, and future vision of humanity as it relates to the Industrial Revolution (past and present) and how it relates to contemporary craft. For real. @gisellehicks guest appeared to share thoughts and new work, and we were heartened by the generative and hospitable audience that Crazy’s brought to us.

Do something with your hands today!

NYC design week 2026 was a blast. I’m completely exhausted and my social battery is drained and I need to detox for a while - but I feel really inspired and emotionally full ❤️

If we interacted towards the end of design week, my sincere apologies

Many thanks to @_sightunseen_ for their spotlight on our group show “Put Together” we flashed @nycxdesign this past weekend, hosted by @rudinnewyork

@monicanina , a true authority on 21st century design, gave us our moment:

“Put Together, by the Montana-based Placed gallery, was only on view last week for a grand total of 28 hours. The gallery’s director, Coryander Friend, found out only three weeks prior that real estate company Rudin was giving her a large empty storefront — after plans for a show at a much tinier venue fell through — yet she managed to wrangle work by nearly 30 designers and artists that explored rule-breaking approaches to craft. Cody Hoyt showed lovely new flat ceramic wall works, Liyang Zhang presented a ceramic lamp and stool, and Luke Malaney contributed several wood and copper pieces, including an epic fireplace he first debuted last summer. All the group shows made me a little.”

Put Together will absolutely be back in the big apple next year with a bit more time to plan — look out for us 👀

Tools, materials, cats — “Put Togther” holds court for craft. Here, a portal into some of our designers’ studios…

Put Together—May 15 & 16
Opening May 15 4-9pm RSVP link in bio
Curated by @coryanderfriend @placed_mt
Hosted by @rudinnewyork
320 Church St., Tribeca

The studios represented in this NYC design week pop up engage in a contradiction: they approach the rules of their craft with the spirit of anarchy. Using materials that are literally put together—welded, woven, linked, adjoined—and from crafts with a long tradition—marquetry, textile, ceramics, glass, wood work—they test how far notions of togetherness can be taken before coming undone. The resulting pieces remind us of anarchy’s definition beyond lawlessness: a society of free expression, unconstrained by precedence. Each work invites playful consideration of freedom and function and how we position ourselves between the two.
